Write-up for the moon roof/sunroof motor replacement

I’ve searched and searched but can’t find any write-ups for the removal/replacement of the moon roof motor. Can any of you guys point me in the right direction? Thanks for the help!

Not exactly a write up but instructions none the less. of course you don't have to remove it all just to do the motor but this gives you that and then some.

Thanks a bunch for the instructions! One last question: am I safe to assume that I'll have to remove the entire headliner in order to access the motor?

From what I understand yes, you will have to drop the headliner. You can gain access to the motor from the map lights on top, but I don't think there is access to remove the motor.

I've read before that you don't have to drop the headliner.

What prevents you from removing it without?

From my experience with it you don't have to completely remove headliner but you do have to at least slide it back to rear of vehicle in order to remove sunroof motor, which requires removing front and rear grab handles, map, dome and rear lights, sun shades and their holders and pop out all trim around headliner. Really not that big a deal, I just put screws back in their holes after removal of each item to keep track of all of them

Headliner comes out pretty easy. You have broken glass? None working unit? Easy to swap out the whole assembly from a parts rig. I have one, but I'm a couple states away from you.

Pop off the 2 long trim pieces (one on each side) that cover the 4 nuts (two on each side) that hold the sunroof glass in place and your done.
