Write up on suspension swap?

Stuck CAPS

New member
I searched but couldn't find much that was helpful and for 4th gens. Any help would be nice. Most specifically, I'd like to know how to get the top of the coilovers out, and how to get the lower shock mount lined up to bolt it back up. The rear seems a bit easier, imho.

Sometimes the top mounts get stuck in the frame and you gotta beat, pry, and pull to get them out. As for the lower shock mount, normally if you pop the lower ball joint out or the top balljoint you can push the lower control arm enough to get the lower shock lined up right.

disconnect the front swaybar from the endlinks. you can replace the front coilovers without disconnecting, but it gives you MUCH more room to work with if you do disconnect.

You can also disconnect the front sway bar from the frame as well. Most suspension kits come with a front swaybar relocation kit so you'll have to disconnect the swaybar from the frame anyways to install the relocation kit. You could just disconnect it from the frame first and work on the front coilovers, then install the relocation kit when you're done

But don't do both (disconnect swaybar from both frame and endlinks), that'll make it very challenging to get the swaybar mounted back on.
