WTB- 1985-88 w/4x4 and 22r-e

I'm looking for a project 4runner first gen with 4x4 and 22r-e motor manual would be perfect but automatic would ok. I would like the engine to run or almost running. My price range is $1500 max.

I'm living in NJ right now but I’m looking to buy a truck in November, I have to go to a military school until then. I'm looking to buy one anywhere between New Jersey and North Carolina. Craigslist has nothing really, there are a few but either they are finished and over priced or smashed up really bad. I wouldn't mind buying from anyone in the country and have it shipped but it would need to be priced well or if it runs then I can always fly out and drive it back, but again it would need to be priced right. It would be fine if it was total crap but ran decently. Again a 22r-e 4x4 between 85-88.

Like Hyde said, Craigslist. Give it some time...eventually you'll find what you need. It may be you find a non-running 1st gen and then you find a running motor for it a few days later. Since its craigslist a lot of the prices can be negotiated, especially if you notice the post has been up or reposted quite a few times.

Thats true, I found one that looks promissing. He says it runs and has the missing fenders and tail gate and wants 800 so we'll see.

searchtempest.com is another good one, allows you to go by location more accurately.
