WTB 3rd gen T4R near San Diego, CA

EDIT: widening my impossible search to a new impossible 4th gen unicorn

So I've been searching for weeks now to find a quality 3rd gen unicorn, and have come up with nothing

Looking for:

• 3rd gen (99-02) or 4th gen (06-09)
• Preferably Sport/Highlander (Limited/sport for 4th gen)
• 4x4 v6 for 3rd gen or 4x4 v8 for 4th gen
• Rear e-locker optional
• Under 200k miles (the lower the better)
• any grey, silver, black, white (shadow mica for 4th gen would be nice)

Budget of 10k top end for a 3rd gen (for the holy grail) budget ~17k for a juicy 4th gen, willing to drive around for a quality car, (maintenance records available, willing to undergo an inspection). Looking to have this car for a long time. I've seen some quality cars sold by some good people on here so I'm hoping I can join the satisfied buyer club.

I went and checked this one out myself and the only reason I didn't end up with it is because the wife wants the leather interior. Its pretty clean, some chips here and there in the paint, it does have new heads on it and looks like some oil is weeping from the oil pan. It has a slight exhaust leak under load but being that a shop just went through the top end its probably something simple. All the controls and interior switches work and they reflect the mileage and the interior is very clean. The only thing it doesn't have is the rear locker but that can be easily changed via aftermarket lockers. It has older Falken wild peak AT's on it that will likely need to be replaced soon but he does have a set of gold TRD pro wheels and brand new Ko2's that you may be able to work into the deal. Its been posted for a while so I'm sure you can get it for less then 9k.

It's a rare find, my only beef is that it's auto . Really set on the 5 speed life, so I'll hold out for now. If I can't take it anymore I'll make moves. Appreciate it though!

There aren't any 4runners currently on the Phoenix Craigslist that have what I'm looking for, also I'm not trying to hop over to Arizona unless the car is flawless and I know I'm not wasting my time. I've been checking the San Diego to LA area constantly. Thanks though

Pretty straightforward. Check our the CA DMV website for the info.

I'm in SoCal and flew up to WA to pick up my 4runner, drive it down and got it registered with no issues.

Thanks amigo, likewise! This has been easily the most infuriating car search of my life. Three sellers down, all of which have either changed their minds on selling, sold without telling me the day we were going to finalize, or tried hide lemons in their engine bay..

Back to the grind I guess...

Talked to the dude already, he's a good dude and he had a nice rig, it just has too many things I would have to fix. Still searching, but no dice. Found some in Glendale up north at a dealer but they're priced high and have some visible damage.

I've sent 3 emails to the guy in "San Mateo" with no response - Seems to be another CL flake.


If anything pops up in NorCal you are interested in I could take a peek for you to avoid you making the trip to only find a heap.

I've dealt with these guys before. The one located in the first link. Be sure to ask for the VIN or have a mechanic check it out. I can almost guarantee once you ask for the VIN or to have a mechanic check it out they will throw you some lame excuse such as, "I work alot, I don't have time to take it to a mechanic for you to check it out but feel free to bring your mechanic" or just flat out ignore you. I believe these guys are all together in the odometer fraud business and preying on T4R enthusiasts like us to overpay for their junk.
