WTB: Hitch for 3rd Gen

Hi all,

I'm having trouble sourcing a used hitch that's relatively rust-free/in better condition than the one I have.

Holler if you have one you'd want to part with. I'm in Denver, but can driver. Also, I don't think shipping on one would be that bad, so I'd be willing to get estimates if you can let me know weight/dimensions.

Thanks!

Don't take this as smartass or anything but why not grind the rust off and bedline it or something? Once it's a flat color you won't notice the imperfections

Check with U-Haul on the prices of a new one. I replaced my stock original Class 2 hitch with a Class 3 from U-Haul and it was a bargain new. It's got to be even cheaper in the USA.

Oh, definitely not taking it that way. Unfortunately my stock one has rust that has eaten through it, so there are holes. From what I've heard, you never ever want to tow with holes.

I was hoping To get one in slightly better condition and then paint it like you were saying. Hah!

They're kind of pricey new (I think $170), so

I just looked up the Reese class III/IV and it's like $120. My best suggestion is if you want a used one is to stalk recently started threads on rear bumper replacements lol.

Oh dang! I think when I was looking for used ones in Google it was showing me Google Shopping results for new ones that were way more. I just sort of assumed that was how much they all were, buuuuut it sounds like I need to dig a bit deeper then.

I guess it would be nice to just have a shiny new one that I didn't have to paint or anything, and that I wouldn't have to worry about rust at all! Thanks for the heads-up!

Cheers!

I'm just south of Fort Collins and I could possibly part with mine. There is also a yard right by my house that has 2 3rd gens both with hitches and I pull one for you. Just let me know

I have one as well, off my 2002 Sport Edition. Exactly the same as the one pictured. It'll be cheap, depending on shipping charges :(

Innnnteresting! What kind of shape is it in? Rusted, faded, etc...

I'm torn between just getting a newer Hidden Hitch because I like the design (little bit more exit angle) and the fact that it comes all shiny from the factory. On the other hand, I need to practice painting on my car, and I was going to repaint a hitch as a practice run, and then my skid plate, and then move on to braver things.

Let me know though. I'm wondering which yards have the hitches because I've been looking around on car-parts.net for them and the one yard that had one was in terrible shape.

I appreciate the offer! I think it would depend on the shipping to 80220, but before you go through the hassle of boxing it up, I'm leaning towards just either sourcing one locally or getting a new one from an online retailer who can afford to ship for free (or pretend to because dang...that's not a cheap thing to do!).

I'll post up a picture of the two hitches asap! I'll head to the yard tomorrow! :bigok: :bigok:
