WTB Retrofit Projector Headlights for 3rd Gen

If only I had the time to mock up some headlights. Looking for some projector headlights for my 3rd gen. Let me know what you have.

I am having a set done right now. Morimoto mini h1 stage 3 retrofit kit with halos and installed into new tyc housing. Its a little bit spendy but nowhere near what a local custom instal shop would charge. What kind of budget are you guys working with?

First off, I would HIGHLY recommend following one of [MENTION=65101]BrianSD_42[/MENTION]'s DIY threads. Just read through one, if nothing else. If after reading it you're still uncomfortable, shoot me a PM and I can answer any questions you have. If after that you're STILL uneasy, let me know and I can put something together for you.

Just know that it's NOT cheap, and it IS easy. Just a little time consuming.

No alignment needed? Don't they still need to be aligned horizontally so they are level when pulling up to a garage door for example?

I don't consider aligning with a screwdriver to be alignment. That's child's play.

In the world of retrofits I consider alignment to be real, in the housing alignment, aka FX-R (huge PITA) style bench alignment.

The drop in kits are already aligned, except for the simple up down screwdriver movement.

Ugh you're right... The rotational alignment is what I was talking about, I couldn't think of the word at the time. I forgot that they have the washers that lock into the headlight housing and the threaded shaft of the projector as well to keep it's rotation correct. The only retrofit I've done was on sealed beams so I didn't get to use those washers, I had to adjust rotation on a bench even using the bolt on projectors. The back of my housing looked like this due to space constraints and sealed beams just sucking in general.


It would be much easier to do one on the 4Runner. I'm leaning more and more towards doing one on my 4Runner. To OP, sorry to distract from your WTB, but I think you'd probably find it more satisfying to do them yourself if you can find the time. You could do it in a day, and it really wouldn't be hard on a 3rd gen, plus you'd save a few hundred dollars.
