XD HID install help needed

Hey guys-
Got my XD Xtreme HID kit today, got the old bulbs out and the wires reconnected...

But for the life of me, I can't get the new bulbs to snap into place. The tabs seem to match the old bulbs, and they line up just fine, but when I go to twist/lock the new bulb into place, no go. There does not seem to be any tension to hold it in place, I've turned it fairly hard and I cannot get it to lock.

Really bummed I can't figure this out, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Did you remove the "washer" at the base of the bulb?

Yes, there was a plastic one and a rubber type one, I did take both of those off.

The little prongs (for lack of better word) line up with the opening in the back of the headlight, but when I twist them, there is no tension or locking like with the factory bulb.

Use the stock bulb brownish rubber ring. I could not snap it im with the blue one included in XD kit. I have a 2016. Also 1 of the 3 tabs are larger so you need to make sure it matches up.

Suppose to take the hard washer off the brown rubber one is the same as the factory bulb and that is what gives it tension.

I installed my Xenon Depot HID kit on my 2017 a couple weeks ago. I took off the white washer but left on the blue ring that came with the XD kit. It was very difficult to turn the bulb into place. I basically had to push in with all my force and rotate. The passenger side wasn't too bad, but the driver side was hard due to the limited space and inability to get the proper angle with my arm. I removed the battery tie down and slide the battery toward the firewall an inch or so to give me a little more room, but maybe try removing the batter and trying to turn the bulbs from different angles while pushing in as hard as you can.

Danyo's idea sounds good though. Report back how it goes.

Danyo & Brian617 got me through it. I took the brownish, rubber o-ring from the stock bulb and replaced the blue o-ring on the HID bulb. It was still very tough to turn, but it did work very well and stays in place now, as it should.

Thanks to everyone for the help. I'm not too handy, so these ideas went a long way!

As for the HID lows, and the LED highs... love the light output! :banana: How the truck should have come from the factory for sure.

you need the rubber o ring, it keeps the water/moisture out

I installed mine yesterday, same problem, very difficult to turn. I missed the first warning on page 6 of the instruction manual. It tells you to remove the white washer.

I did the installation around a month ago. Same problem, I could not get the bulbs to twist and lock into place. I compared the rubber rings from the XD lights to the stock, and I noticed that the blue ring from the XD kit is about 25% or so thicker. Swapped between the two, and things worked out magnificently. No fogging in the housing, which was what I was worried about, and the light output is fantastic!!
