XD LED Low beams came in today

Hi, I'm new here and have been following this thread trying to figure out if upgrading my OEM low beams to LED is worth it. It appears from what I read that I'm better off going with HID's? This is on a 2010 Trail. I'm working way out in West Texas and would like to get a little better view of the sides of the road along with a little more in front when on low beam. The guys at my local shop are pushing the LEDs but to the tune of about $300 installed.

Any help/thoughts would be appreciated.

Do you have projector or reflector headlights? If you have projector headlights then I would go with the H11 Xtreme HID kit for the 2010 4Runner which will be your brightest option in 4300K.

Or if you have reflector headlights then go with the H11 Xtreme LED Pro kit.

Hi Danny, thanks for the prompt reply. I checked with the guy who was trying to sell me the kit locally and he is using bulbs made by a company called Putco? Have you ever heard anything about them? He had never heard of Philips bulbs which surprised me. I’m wondering if this is something i can do myself on your H11 replacement kit. I’m pretty sure mine are reflector type lights. I’m going to research the brand he is using but at 1/2 the price i’m inclined to try yours.

If its reflector then go with the Xtreme LED Pro kit. Here is a great review we had done on them from a customer:

As for the Putco brand, I've heard of them as we use to sell some of their products but I don't have any experience with their LED headlight kits.

LED lighting

Thanks for the link. The install looks fairly simple. I checked the bulb differences and it looks like the Putco puts out 1500 Lumens vs 1740 for the Philips. Does that sound right? I'm driving back to work on Monday so I won't be able to do the install before the new year but I'm thinking to order the kit and try to do it when I get back in town in a couple of weeks. I would almost go for the HID but I guess on my 4Runner that would be a huge deal?Converting from reflector to projector type lights?

Anyway, thanks very much for the assistance. You've given me a lot to think on. Wish I'd found this forum years ago

I bought the yellow LED Xenon Depot fog lights (Philips? house brand? Can't remember), they throw light around more to the sides. Not sure how useful it would be at 80 mph though, by the time you see it, it would be too late. The fog lights are the round ones near the bottom of your 2010 to 2013. The hardest part was trying to find something to tie the 'ballast' up to. I bought a variety pack of black cable ties off of eBay or Amazon and used them. Got some pics on my phone.
