XD LED Low beams came in today

XenonDepot issue

Hey all, newb here. I have been stalking you guys on the forums for awhile now :bigok:. I was reading this thread because I wanted to upgrade my lighting. I was originally going with LED for low beams but after reading the threads, I chose the HID kit from xenondepot as many recommended. First time ordering from them and the next day I was hit with a notice saying it was back ordered but will ship out later in the week. So I waited. The following week, it still didn't ship out so I emailed them and never received any reply. But then all of a sudden they show shipped. So that part was good, but then I find out they didn't ship out 2day shipping as they say they do. I have to wait another week for them to show up =(. I was disappointed with the lack of service and lack of response. I was going to get my LED high beams through them too but after this, I'm not so sure. Any other recommendations as to who to get these through??

While my initial experience was rocky with Xeon Depot, I have to say Steve has been pretty awesome so far. I should have created my account here and talked to this guy from the get go. I agree!! I have been stalking lighting threads for a while now and with the sale and then a extra 20% off, I purchased my Christmas gift to myself with XD HID low beam 4300K with Phillips bulbs. I'm stoked but gotta wait for more funds before I can do the fog and high beams. Steve has been awesome in answering any questions in a timely manner. Not to mention, free 2 day shipping!

Would like your thoughts on HID vs LED when comparing the new H11 LMZ Platinum 45W Light from VLEDs (H11 ULTRA OUTPUT LED HEADLIGHTS LMZ PLATINUM 45W) to an HID kit from you guys (https://www.xenondepot.com/H11-HID-Kit-Xtreme-HID-p/xt-h11.htm).

The LED kit above is stating 6000lm/bulb compared to 3200lm with the HID.

I am all for what will give me the most lighting and was originally leaning towards HID but now finding this LED bulb, it has made me second guess.

I would love professional input in this.

Well according to that website it doesn't recommend the LEDs in a closed housing with dust cover or in DRL/High beam. Looks like that pretty much eliminates them from use on the '14+ 4Runner.


ETA: Just saw you have a 4th gen. Not sure how those headlights are.

Hi,

I don't like to comment on other products. The only thing I will say is that I would say is that most vendors claim the maximum theoretical lumens -- which don't come close to what the actual STABLE lumens is after 30 minutes of use.

Go with HID if you want the best possible lighting.

I have xenondepot led lowbeams, fog and DRL. I'll put some pics up soon. I had HID before in my Lexus and xB. Honestly the led isn't as bright and I'm considering trying to return my led or buy a HID kit.

My XD HIDs in my low beams and my XD LEDs in my fogs and highs are so amazing. Just drove in my wife's Acadia Denali at night on a road trip and then drove my Runner last night. Mine are way brighter than hers and I used to think hers were bright as can be.

I've been wondering the same thing seeing them... Thinking about upgrading at some point and was curious about this since part of the reason I don't want to run HIDs is avoiding chopping up the dust covers...

Hi,

The heat sink will fit behind the cover, but I would still suggest drilling the cover so that the LED driver can be mounted outside the headlight housing. The LED driver dissipates heat, while you may be able to "stuff" everything in there, it would be a better idea to leave the driver outside so that there is less overall heat within the headlight assembly.

Hi, I'm new here and have been following this thread trying to figure out if upgrading my OEM low beams to LED is worth it. It appears from what I read that I'm better off going with HID's? This is on a 2010 Trail. I'm working way out in West Texas and would like to get a little better view of the sides of the road along with a little more in front when on low beam. The guys at my local shop are pushing the LEDs but to the tune of about $300 installed.

Any help/thoughts would be appreciated.

ordered all my LED's off Amazon for my lows, highs and fogs and i paid less then $200 all in and installed them myself, Did i mention that's $200 Canadian?

From everything i have read, LED's are Awesome but HID's will surpass them for sure.

Also as for light output, i picked 6000k light temp and my lows/fogs light up everything in-front and a good amount on the sides

I have XD HIDs and could not be happier. Get the 4300 Philips.
