Xenon Depot HID's?

Hey everyone,

I was wonder if I might be able to get some feedback on the two different brands that xenon depot has to offer. I want some 6000k's which they offer in both brands. Is the more expensive of the two (Xtreme HID) worth the extra money? Or is the cheaper one (VOLT) just as good? I saw the side by side comparison they have on the website and for the most part they are the same specs.... thanks for any input!

Xtreme uses Japanese components and come with wiring harnesses.

Volt uses Taiwanese components and does not come with any wiring harnesses.

I have the Xtreme kit with 3000k burners and they've performed flawlessly. I prefer to use wiring harnesses with HIDs to protect the factory wiring. HIDs run at 35 watts (though there are some 55w ballasts out there) depending on kit, but their initial power draw during start up is much greater than the standard Halogen (55w).

Either kit you get, XD will stand by the product.

THAT's what I missed. The Volt kit doesn't have the wiring harnesses. And how exactly do these protect the factory wiring? And how does the volt kit connect to the vehicle?

I'm not sure how the volt kit connects but Xtreme kit protects the wiring by using the factory circuit ONLY as turn on for the relays. The relays from the kit connect directly to the battery with their own fuses for a power supply.

And I agree with Merle below.

The plug-n-play nature of Xenon Depot's wiring harness is very nice. IF you need to revert back to the original lights (want to turn it in for trade, testing/replacing components, HID's fail), it's about a 5 second operation per light.

I agree, go with the XD HID's. I just installed mine on Sunday and love them. I went with the 4300K. My wife even said she liked them today, which totally shocked me because she's to first to call me out on spending money on mods.

Installed the XD Xtreme 4300K kit on my 2006 Sport Edition a few months ago. I love them. The only thing I want to do now is get a matching set for the fogs! BUT, has anyone here installed the XD kit for both low beam and fogs? Have you found there's too much custom wiring under the hood after this mod?

H11 4300k kit installed in the lows and 9006 3000k Yellow HID installed in the fogs:

Nope. Not sure how you ran your wires, but if it's done similar to 4RunnerRon's (the write-up in this sub-forum), it's just one extra wire going to the passenger side. There are now four fuses by the battery though, but we have lots of empty spaces in our engine bays.

IMO, by all means go for it.
