XM Install Pics

Ok, I have searched both the General Forum and the Audio Forum with no success (typical noob opening line). I am looking for pictures of how people have installed their XM receivers. I have a MyFi and trying to figure out a good semi-permanent install location without damaging any part of the interior (if possible). I'm not worried about running wires, that is usually the easy part. I just want a slick install. Also looking for any info on adapters to hardwire the receivers. Anyone? Thanks guys!

Most people on here have put them in the sunglass holder...if you do a search for sirius or XM installs you should find plenty.

The problem is what I seach for "xm radio install" I get this "The search term you specified (xm) is under the minimum word length (3) and therefore will not be found. Please make this term longer." And if I search for "xmradio install" I get "sorry - no matches found". Does anyone have pics?

Do a search for Sirius radio then, I am sure the reciever boxes are the same size.

I mounted my XM Roady 2 on a mount made for the 4Runner from Pro Fit (http://www.pro-fit-intl.com/) It mounts to existing screws inside the glove box, and holds the XM receiver about level with the HVAC controls, angled at the driver. I have it interfaced to the stock head unit using a USA-SPEC AUX adapter. It tricks the head unit into thinking it's a CD changer, and gives you two sets of RCA inputs. I also ran a new 12V lighter socket into the back of the small compartment inside the glove box to plug in the XM unit. I think it looks pretty clean...

Is XM radio worth the money?

It is to me. An hour in the car each day to listen to talk radio, music, whatever I feel like. And fantastic for trips.

I've got basically the same setup as NC4Runner. I really like the Roady2 reciever. I use mine with my home stereo and at work with the home kit. I chose XM because we have a Honda with it built in. I don't know too much about Sirius, but I think I'd be happy with it too. It's so nice not having to fool with CD's anymore and FM radio is a joke. Just do your homework and pick the one you think you'll like the best, I doubt you'll be disappointed.

I started with a Roady as well, and just didn't like how it stuck out off the front of the dash. Have you thought about going with an XM ready HU, and setting it up with XM Direct? That's what I did, and I like that I didn't have to buy any brackets to mount a Roady or similar. Plus, it's a very clean look. I just ran the antenna from the rear roof, down the D pillar, under the carpet door sills to the XM Direct receiver under the front passenger seat. Then, I just tucked the HU specific adapter behind the fold down cubby under the climate controls. Very clean & uncluttered, plus you get to use your HU as the XM controller.

I know I am bringing this back from the dead but I am curious how you got a bracket from Pro Fit. I went to the web link but it doesn't show a mount for the 2003 and up 4runners. Thanks

I don't have the Pro Fit mounting bracket, but I do have one that is just like it from Bracketron. I got mine from myradiostore.com. I looked and they still have them on listed on their site or I'm sure you can find it from another radio/stereo store. Hope this helps.

Mine is a Pro-Fit. At the time I bought it, they had the part on their site and I purchased it from I think xmfanstore.com. I'm sure if you contact Pro-Fit they can give you the part number.
