Just got my XM radio working on my 2006 Sport. Much simpler than I thought. I have been to installers several times and come away more confused than when I arrived. Plus they always try to sell me something I don't want. They were pushing the Terk Commander and I wanted SKYFi2. I ordered the SKYFi2 from Crutchfield along with the car kit. Then I ordered the vehicle specific bracket from the Satellite Radio site (installer wanted $80 for bracket-big enough rip-off at $40), Last but not least, I went by Radio Shack and got the wire to connect audio output from the XM radio to the Ipod jack that is inside the console of the 2006 models. Had a little trouble with activation but probably my fault. Called the XM customer service line for help and got an ethnic- sounding woman who though seemingly alive, sounded like a robot. Every question I asked, she would just read me the answer from a card in front of her. She read it over and over no matter what the question was, she read the same statement from the card. According to her, you should have the radio ready to go when you activate the account, although I didn't read that anywhere in the activation instructions on the website. I opened the account last night and hooked the radio up this afternoon resulting in a need to "refresh" the activation. Radio Shack cord is going back. Using that to play through Ipod jack resuted in low volume levels and noticeable engine ignition noise being picked up. Disconnected that and went to wireless FM modulation which SKYFi2 has and that works much better. Volume is louder and no engine noise. I have noticed very slight crackling on the Talk stations and will experiment with different FM frequencies. Music sounds great. Now all I have to do is let the installers do the part they are more familiar with, hardwiring the power supply, mounting brackets and hiding antenna wire and I should be set.
