XM Radio w/out external antenna?

Does anyone run XM without the use of an external antenna? I'd like to use a portable unit like the Helix or Inno and just run it into my aux audio. Does having a moon roof help with reception?

I realize that XM has good terrestrial repeaters, I'm curious about satellite reception on the portable units in the 4Runner.

you've got to have an antenna - I have been using a skyfi portable - the older model, and it won't work without an antenna. They're really easy to install though, I have zero ability and had no problem putting one in my truck - just run it along the weatherstripping (I used a plastic knife for the tight spots) and then under your floor mats in front - you can unplug in a second and take your unit with you. Use the FM Modulation feature to run it wirelessly to your car stereo. Only glitch to that whole scenario as I am discovering - is that in heavily populated cities where there are a lot of radio stations, you get more and more interference through the wireless FM Modulation. It's gotten so bad in the DC Metro area, that I can't find a station to play my XM on that doesn't give me static. I've finally broken down and gotten a wired unit - having it professionally installed tomorrow actually.

the external antenna is totally required.

The portable antennas work outdoors in line of sight, sure you might be able to get
SOME signal, but it will cut in and out ALOT.
