I was so pissed when they wouldn't allow me to transfer the remaining Sirrus amount over to XM...when the rep called last week I told him to "stuff it"!!...it was last time either company would ever see another dime from me.
My thought is take the 10 bucks a month and buy yourself some music on iTunes...hell..you can buy a whole album for 9 dollars on there.

I talked to XM yesterday. I was checking to see what the package deals are now, and was told that lifetime is $390.00 but this doesn't include Nav/Traffic. Then the guy said if i didn't include Nav/traffic for and additional $3.99/per month my on board navigation wouldn't work after the 90 day trial is up. I not sure how true that is since the navigation is a dvd based software. Anyone know if this is true? They have a 1yr Xm Nav/Traffic for $212. Ive got about 60 more day to decide. Felt like i was being worked over by a used car salesman!

my truck came with XM radio (90-day subscription). does anyone know if this is integrated into the headunit OR if there is a separate XM receiver? I ask bc I am having a pioneer z110bt installed which requires a separate XM receiver, so if there is already a separate stock XM receiver in my truck then I won't buy one for the pioneer.

Not familiar with Sirius/xm nav/traffic but I am thinking that it would in no way affect your Toyota Navigation Radio features ???
Also, I think someone around here said Sirius/xm would not lifetime a car radio, only an external unit.

The Nav/Traffic service is provided by a third party, NavTec. The GPS navigation should work, but the "traffic alerts" won't.
Having been a Sirius customer (2007 PT Cruiser) for the last 2.5 years, I can tell you that they employ the same class of call-center employee as the major cellular companies and you should expect the same low-level of service. I had to try and cancel before they resolved my issues and finally offered me a year @ half-price before I agreed to stay.
A word of caution on the "lifetime" packages... they only apply to the ESN for the radio, not your car. So if the radio dies, you don't get to transfer to a replacement radio. Purchase accordingly.

I was told by XM that they would not give lifetime to a stock radio number, only aftermarket radios...odd, very odd.

You should read this thread before purchasing anything from XM. In short,
- You will save hundreds by calling a few times a year and threatening to cancel
- Make sure they do not store your credit card information, or they will charge you full price after your "negotiated" deal expires
I picked up my 2010 TE last week and thought the NAV/Traffic stopped working. Apparently, it was still working, but most of the Houston freeways never show any NAV/Traffic info despite being on the coverage map. There is no way that I would buy that "service".
When I called to find out if my NAV/Traffic was on or off, I got 5 months of XM Radio after my 3 month Toyota free trial for $19.95 vs ~$65 normal price. So I'm happy for the next 8 months.

I've problems with Sirius and XM. I change cars frequently and when I do, my accounts invariably get screwed up. I get elevated to a supervisor and they tell me a totally different story than the person i spoke to a couple of minutes before. This time they blamed it on a system glitch -- like I never heard that excuse before. Very frustrating. If programming wasn't so good, I'd do way with both. Another new competitor with better service will certainly make me switch.
As a matter of fact, I'm so upset at this evening's interaction with XM that I've copied and pasted this thread to their "Contact Us" section. I urge all to do the same. Surely they know they have customer service issues.

I was really considering XM on whichever car I get. Should I just save the money? I've survived this long on just the regular radio and my cds, at least now I'd be getting an iPod connection.
I guess I'm also thinking I'd never listen to everything which is the same reason I've never gone beyond the basic cable package.

SeattleMike, that sounds more reasonable to me. Don't think ill be including the Nav/Traffic feature. I will check back about the "lifetime" package and what all that includes and is limited too. Thanks for your info!
Thank you Tx 4runner for your link and info! I'm going to check back several times to see if and how the pricing/packages change till i have to subscribe.
Big thanks to T4R.ORG for the forums. I've learn a lot from everyone's posts here, from window tint and floor mats to now dealing with XM radio! Keep up the good work!

chances are the existing XM receiver is not compatible with your Pioneer
As an added bonus folks, after you cancel the subscription, they will try to bill you again a year later, and guess what, if it doesnt go thru, I changed banks for my debit card, they will bill you a fee that it did not go thru, but not call, nor send a note in the mail. but, instead, get a collection agency after you.
I know this because it just happened to me in January. Nice job! oh, and it took nearly 3 hours, 4 different operators, and several calls after they would hang up to get to a corporate customer care manager. She finally fixed it, and gave me her contact info, and email etc with phone call back to me to assure that things were squared away.
Pay by check, or cash, or not at all. its silly, but they really do not care about your credit score. oh, and this was for a whole 28 dollars. of fee's due because my old card would not process due to changing banks, a year later they auto billed me and made me work my butt off to square it away. Criminals.

Well I had XM for years and I loved it. I drove about 25,000 - 35,000 miles per year and it was the best investment I have ever done. Keeping some sanity and getting some decent music was during those years thanks to XM. I can unfortunately not get it in Alaska (due to the angle of the satellites). BUT around Anchorage I just hook up my iphone and stream music from Pandora or other service and it works fantastic.
The one thing that you guys should look at is Spotify when it is released. My family back in Sweden has had it for a long time (as it is Swedish) and basically it streams free with advertising or you pay and get it without advertising. The app that Apple is considering right now (allowed in Sweden but considered for the US) allows storing 3000 songs!!!! that can be accessed offline.
This would make XM a thing of the past if you are not into talk radio.
Just saying -- either way if you drive a lot I would have XM/Sirius. If you don't then no reason for it........

I am hoping they forget to cut off my 3 month free subscription. The dealer said it sometimes takes a year for them to. After that probably will not renew, don't drive that much...
