XM - Recent Renewals?

what are the latest deals? need to re-new within the next couple of days. would prefer to do a whole year, but could do 6 months if it's a better deal.

I've paid $5 or $6 per month for the last 2.5 years with Sirius. My XM trial expired a few weeks ago. I renewed for 3 months for $18 incl all taxes and that new monthly recovery fee they added last year. Fair IMO.

Well, my xm subscription expires at the end of this month. I called today to cancel and was offered two more months free. I said ok only if it would then be set to cancel automatically at the end of that two months. Of course they said no I'd have to call in and they probably hope I forget. So cancelled it is then in another week. I found that I didn't listen much and where I live there are very tall pines along the highways which block signal anyway so it was in and out all the time in those areas. Funny thing tho my pandora streaming works great on those same roads I'd switch to it and think this is so much better. So pandora it is and Sirius it ain't. One more comment, I found the talking between much of the music was very annoying. Geez.. It's pay radio for gods sake. Shut up and play.

Alright Gents, I usually chime in here once a year to boast about my good luck having a seemingly endless free trial of XM... Alas...The CD player in my '10 never worked right. A year after we bought it, I put a CD in and it got stuck. When I finally got it out, the display still said it was in. So last month I took the truck in for its last kick at the warranty can before the 3 years was up. I had them re/re the radio because the constant reminder on the display was annoying. My "eternal free trial" is over :pout:

So it sounds like if you can cause your receiver to "malfunction" the XM trial counter does not function? I don't use my CD player, maybe I should break it?

Well, my account expired on the first and its still on. I also noticed on their site that my account was charged $96 and then credited $94 leaving a $2 balance. No clue what that's all about except that the $96 figure is what they quoted me for six more months of service which I declined. Glad they don't have my credit card number. If they send me a bill for the $2 I'll call them. I do have an email confirming the cancellation. When I asked for it she says " what" ? Like, why am I asking for that? I may call them today and make sure my account is disabled completely. I'll never use them again anyway.
EDIT: ha, just called them, god how I hate straining to try and understand what they're saying. No clue what country their in but it's not here. Anyway, they said the $2 was a charge for sending me the paper work regarding the closure of my account. I kept my cool during the conversation and she said she'd waive the fee since I had already closed my account 3 weeks ago. Sheesh! Glad I'm done with them.

WOW.. I guess I should follow that business model and start sending out bills to people for not doing business with me and the bill is for the confirmation they are not doing business with me..... Is SiriusXM based out of Kenya these days?

Okki

A bizzare company. I would imagine that many people just let their accounts ride on an auto renewal basis via credit card and just pay it. When your talking to them the background chatter is really annoying and makes it even harder to hear the very heavily accented person your trying to deal with. Sounds like a warehouse full of cubicles and phones in Kenya? Who knows? Maybe. Some 3rd world place where labor is cheap and people are screaming for jobs of any kind. Sad really. I felt kind of sorry for the person as she tried to get me to extend my contract. Working on commission surely.

$24.99 +$3.12 for 5 months was the best I could get. Couldn't stand to haggle any more.:argue:

Unfortunately, I like the service. I follow a couple of musicians I used to know who are DJs on the Outlaw Country channel and I like to get baseball when I'm out of town or at work. The comedy channel is a change of pace as well.
If it was $5 or $6/mo I would keep it indefinitely.

Why pay for XM Radio if Pandora and HeartRadio is FREE ?

Why would you come onto a XM radio thread and start talking about Pandora.

I'm sure there is a perfectly good pandora thread someplace, maybe I can go there and talk about XM?

Never mind Pandora or any other, just saying that one shouldn't have to pay for Radio XM. I had XM for a year and it had lot of advertisement. It was supose to be add-free. Let vendors pay for your service. Most subscribers are missing big picture.

Cell phone reception is better in the mountains than satellite.

XM is too expensive, and the programming sucks.

I have unlimited data and unlimited data roam, I haven't used XM on any vehicle I've owned since 2010.

I spend about 3 weeks per year up in the mountains with zero cell service, not even a hint of a cell signal.

XM satellite radio.....works perfect every time.

Have to agree, XM has the world's dumbest marketing plan and worst CS currently known to man.

I'm enjoying the free trial now, but won't renew. Sure I will continue to get the renewal notices in the mail, and toss them in the trash.

Pandora, Iheart and HD radio good enough for me. Would rather stick a sharp object in my eye than deal with their customer service again.

You know Pandora and iHeart might be free apps or websites or whatever you want to call them....but somebody's paying for Internet or data service.
Unless you are parked in the Local MickeyD's every time you "drive" those services still cost you money. Maybe not directly like XM, but it still costing you cash one way or another.
