XM satellite

Hey all! I'm new here and and really glad to have joined and have access to all this knowledge

So here's my problem...I have an aftermarket stereo (Kenwood DNX5120) on my 08 4Runner. The XM satellite stereo has been acting weird. I've been getting "loading" and "ch unavailable" along with going in and out of channel 1 on it recently. No stereo is available! I suspect the antenna is loose or has a bad connection, but nut sure because the error message would read differently. I checked the connections of a box under the passenger seat by reseating the connections. No joy! Where are the antenna connections located? What else can I look for. I also disconnected the battery for a few minutes to reset the system, no joy!

I had the same problem, ended up having to replace the antenna. It was 20 bucks or so on amazon, if you google it it seems like it is a fairly common problem for the antenna to go out.

Rather then a new thread.....anyone find XM to be getting worse for signal......in and out tuning all the time. Seems like the last few months, the signal gets weaker. anyone else?

Signal is fine here. You can usually pickup an antenna at Goodwill, the little square one, for $1.99 but the best one to get is a round "high gain" model on ebay for about $15. It's the one with a silver disc in the middle and will even work underneath trees. Just stick it on the roof and run the cable in at the top of one of the rear doors.
