I just picked up the above unit at a closeout price. Couple of questions-

(I already searched)

1) Do I have everything I need with the kit for the radio I need to install it in my '05 4Runner with the Scion T1807 (single knob) radio?

Where are those instructions for taking apart the dash?

I wish I knew how to spell that guy's name! (for the instructions)

Castallici or something?

P.S. My son just informed me that the FM transmitter built in to the unit will not work very well since we live in Southern California. He said something about a black box that will plug in to the antennae so the unit will play this way.

Anybody familiar with this?

What he is describing sounds like the XM Direct universal tuner for an XM ready h/u. You should have an adapter that came with the kit which will clip on to the antenna. This is also an fm transmitter but may work better than the built in one. Do you have an aux input on your h/u? I'm not familiar with this one so more info=more answers.

Yes -that is what he is referring to. He bought a "black box" that he will "hard wire" the XM unit to the T1807 antenna. He says it's better than the clip on wire. The way it came from the store is a wireless transmitter. There are not any other parts included for getting the sound from the XM unit to the head unit.

The Scion T1807 does have a spot where you can plug it in the back - but he is going this way. To plug in to the back you have to buy the TOY3/AUX black box (not sure who makes it (P.I.E.?) - and it's double the price of the other box. ) And least this is my understanding?

I have seen the aux harness for around $30 iirc, not a black box, you just plug it in. This would be much, much simpler for you and give you more flexibility. I would suggest you buy the harness and then you can connect whatever you want to play through your aux channel (mp3, cell, xm, etc.). No hardwiring, just plug in and go.
