Xreas ran dry?

I've got a question for those who have already gotten rid of their Xreas system.
I got rid of mine today. Actually, I disconnected it since all the components are still on my 4runner but they're not hooked up anymore because today I installed non-Xreas shocks. I'll take off all the hydraulic lines & such later.
Anyhow, I fully expected a gusher of oil when I unbolted that banjo nuts on the old rear shocks but got nothing. A few drops from the front passenger/rear driver side but that's it! It seems the only oil in the system is what was in the shocks.

So, I'm wondering if this is normal? I would think there'd be more oil than that!
Geez, I think my old Xreas was even worse than I thought but I never seen any signs of leakage anywhere in the system.

Removing my system was nothing short of a complete mess lol. Definitely not like what you described. All 4 shocks needed to be drained plus the excess oil in the lines themselves. Perhaps you had a slow leak somewhere in the system?

It's possible it could have been a slow leak but really, my hydraulic lines were so corroded that I suspect it could have opened up somewhere and lost all the oil at once. We've had a lot of heavy rain this year so I'm guessing road spray washed away the evidence before I could see it.
I drained about a pint & a half of oil out and that includes what was still in the shocks.

If you're not the original owner the PO probably had a shock replaced by someone who didn't understand the system and/or wasn't capable of doing a proper replacement and lost most of your oil and didn't know how to replenish it. Mine had no gas charge after I had owned it a couple years and did shocks.
I know the GM dealer who I bought it from replaced a front shock before I bought it, so there went the gas charge unbeknownst to me!
