i own a 2004 4runner limited, w/81,000 miles. in january of this year, my dash cracked! needless to say it was very upsetting. called toyota in calif this afternoon. no help, in fact they said they have no other notices about the cracking dash problem in 4runners. in fact i would advise anyone, with the same issue with their 4runners to call 1-800-331-4331 and at least register with them your issues about the cracking dash. figure if enough owners call in and complain, maybe they will take responsibility and do something about it. of course my truck is out from under warranty, in fact the rep told me, since it's so far out of warranty, there is nothing they can do!! She apologizes many times, but they don't care.
i was told by the dealership, that Toyota informed them, since others here in Houston are having similar problems. that they use someone else to manufacture the dash in their vehicles. that company blames armorall and the heat in texas for causing the cracking. Bull! that company used inferior product to produce the dashes, it's a manufacturing issue that should be taken care of by toyota at no charge to the 4runner owners.
