After waiting for 3 months it has finally arrived...a new 4Runner. I spent lots of time reading all your posts to learn as much as possible about the 4runner. I got exactly what I wanted for my needs. Thank you all for the information regarding this great SUV...it's my 6th 4x4 Toyota.

Slept in the back last night on it's first fishing trip and my wife is coming down the street in it now. Got to go...it's my turn to drive it again!

Thanks again and I will post info regarding how it does in the cold and snow of Alaska.

Sleeping in the SUV, you have got the fever bad. By the way, how was it, in the third generation it is only aobut 5'7" long, not nearly long enough for me to sleep.

It stays light here all night now so there wasn't much sleeping but being 5'8" it worked OK. I got the V8 to pull a travel trailer but I want to put on 1000 miles breaking it in before I hook up a load.

Good luck with your new 4Runner. I don't know what it is, but it seems everyone gets a "4Runner fever" right after they drive off in it. For me, I spent part of the night in the garage just staring at it and reading the owners manual!!

Congratulations on your purchase! I'll admit, I slept in my 4runner also when I first got it - although the car was in my garage. I put the sleeping bag in there, my laptop (I have wi-fi) & a snack.

Maybe you can show us some 4runner pics with some Alaskan scenery.

The first thing that came to my mind when I sat in the back seat is how spacious and how much fun one could have back there.

I would like to say that I almost rolled it without XREAS suspension but truthfully my wife kept catching fish while I crashed for a couple of hours in the new "Salmon Wagon".

If you fold the back seat down and pull the front seat forward, a cot with 12" tall legs will allow a tall person to sleep in the back. It gives you more width too being higher than the wheel wells and flattens out the bed area making for better sleeping. Gear will also fit underneath.
