Yakima bike carrier

I purchased a yakima bike carrier a couple months ago, it carries up to 4 bikes. I have a slight problem in the the adapter doesnt fit my hitch 100% perfectly, there is a bit of play up and down. I asked yakima and they suggested something to shim it. Anyone have a similar experience with suggestions?

i have an OLDER yakima hitch carrier that i bought new in 99/2000(?).

anyway, it came with a bolt that i snugged down to secure it and keep it from moving.

do you not have that???

i'll try to remember to snap a pic tonight and post.

yes that bolt is in there. however there is still play.

I do not know how much play you have, but all hitches have some play up and down and side to side. My Yakima bike rack certainly does as well. When I bolt it from the side that keeps care of the side to side. However, their is still some up and down movement.

crank down on that and that should tighten things up.

i don't recall my bike rack moving after cinching it down.

thanks. i crank the sh*t out of it with a good ratchet and it doesnt move, never has. however if i then try to move it by hand and put some muscle into it i can get it to move. i guess i was just trying to simulate road bumps and was concerned.
