yes the build quality, yakima while i dont think they are worth their cost, are a much better product people have posted up about their Rolas rusting and being cheaply made, and having looked at the two side by side, i can assure you they are not as good of quality.
 
I was afraid of that..130 seemed a little bit low.

One more question, I found the Loadwarrior for 150 on CL locally..however, they're a little small. Would one of those extension pieces stretch it to the length of a Megawarrior? If so, does it look sloppy with the extension or clean? Just looking to save money where I can.
 
I have had a Yakima for years on multiple vehicles. It's used alot for kayaks and has never shown any rust or any signs of malfunction. Works great for me and looks great!
 
Although I do like the design and looks of the Rolla than they Yakima, I've heard stories of rust and cheap finish over and over again. Check out the search function and you'll come across it.

In my opinion the Megawarrior is overkill on a 3rd gen. It's huge! I've got a yakima load warrior and threw in the extension this past year, Perfect size! It's held up great for the 2 years of owning it and great quality build. Check out racksforall.com. That's where I got mine and it was on sale for under $200. Hell of a deal back in the day so check them out, watch for promo codes and you'll get a good buy
 
You get what you pay for I guess. I appreciate the advice, guys! I contacted the guy about his Loadwarrior. I'll hopefully go pick that up and get an extension down the road. Thanks for all the help!
 
had the rola for almost a year. rust if a problem if you dont prevent it. mine is still looking new no rust anywhere. There is a place on the rack where you would have to put electrical tape around (where you add extension piece at). that prevents water getting in and prevents future rusting. because once it starts..you cant stop it.
 
Mine has just started rusting. I still wouldnt pay that much to beat up unless it was a bumper. Im happy with mine so far my 33 inch tire fits, i can fit and so can another person haha.
 
Had my rola for almost a year now...no isuues so far. Like it was said in a previous post, treat it and be done with it. You can also add the 18" extension as well
 
I considered a Rola in the past. I figured Linex and some electrical tape into the prise, still cheaper than the Yakima.
 
So the Rola is like 140 new + shipping

I got the guy with the Loadwarrior to do 150

If that's the case, which would you guys say? While you're all saying the Yakima will last long, used to new obviously effects it. I can't really tell from the pictures if there's anything wrong with the Yakima, he claims there's nothing but normal wear and tear.

Just give it a good run over when you see it in person. Disconnect the halves and check for rust... Obvious signs of paint over rust...

Another thing to figure in is the mounts. Does it come with Yakima Mighty Mounts? Or will you need to buy some?

$150 is a good deal though, in the grand scheme of things.
 
Also, since you're on a budget, are you really ever going to use this thing? I have a cargo area that holds plenty =p

Just saying... Facebook is going public in the next few months... May think about investing =P

Yeah, I've got subs, 4x12 cab, two guitars, big board, huge amp head, along with other stuff to move for college. I'll be moving equipment quite regularly so any extra space I can get for bags and things like that would be tremendous help.

I'm doing stocks in economics now..better sell my stocks and switch to that! I lost 4 grand on one this week..haha

Yeah, just for a class! haha.

Well I met with the guy tonight and picked up the Loadwarrior! Guy pulled up with a 2000 Limited. Very cool guy! Ended up talking about our 4runners for like 15 minutes and he help me put it on. Very stoked! Looks great, ready to put it to use.
 
Here is my 4R with Yakima Rack w/ extension. The rack with extension just fits on top of the Runner with very little room left. Be warned if you have a sunroof you will get a lot of wind with one of these w/ extension. Also make sure you buy one off CL with brackets. Mine did not come with them and they cost
$16 each (you need 4) from Yakima. My rack cost $140 w/ extension but brackets, extra rod and net cost $130 shipped for a grand total of $270.

Until more cash rolls in I have a solution to buying locking brackets which are just plastic anyways. lol...
