BTW, I'm a HUGE Yankees fan. I'm a life-long New Yorker and my dad is from the Bronx, so I was raised a Yankee fan from day one! Go Yanks!

Hahahahahahha......... I've heard that same silly argument time and time again. Nobody is trying to buy a Championship. If money could buy a Championship, then the Yankees would have already won the last 9 World Series Titles. History has proven that money absolutely does not buy a World Series Title. But Yankees haters still like to say that.
Aren't the Mets the second highest payroll in baseball? All that money and they didn't even come close to making the playoffs.

His name is Lee. He's one of the best pitchers in baseball. I'm not really surprised that the Yankees didn't hit much off of him. I was hoping that CC would have been just as dominant, but giving up 2 homers to Utley were his only mistakes. The Yankees bullpen gave up too many runs in the 8th and 9th inning, especially considering how poorly the Yanks lineup was hitting against Lee.
Game 2 should be much different. I fully expect the Yanks to smack Pedro around all night.

You would think when the Yankees have spent a billion and a half dollars in 10 years they would be in the series more often. They have double the payroll on the field than the Phillies do so it'll be even more pleasure watching the Yankees lose. I loved watching the spendthrift Rays go last year to the series while the Yanks watched it at home.
They might not buy a championship but they sure do try and if they had a salary cap in baseball the Yanks probably would be a middling team at best.
I'm not a Phillies fan but I'm even less of a Yankees fan so I gotta root for the lesser of two evils.

That's backwards logic. If you compare payrolls to WS championships, you'll see that payroll is not a factor. So all the Yankee haters can keep talking about money, but there's nothing that ties payroll to WS championships.
But of course the Yankees being the greatest franchise in the history of sports will mean that there are plenty of people who hate them, whether they win or lose. At the end of the day, that means nothing. And if they win the WS this year, all the haters will say it was only because of their payroll. Just don't try to tell that to Mets fans, LOL

My kid last night must have been brought up right as she said "can you believe those stinkin' Yankees?" I was going to correct her and say it's "damn" Yankees but I think the new gen knows best. Seems to be countrywide. Gee ! Who Knew?? Go Phils.:banana:

Okay, now everything makes sense.. you're a Boston fan. Oh well, better luck next year. Must have really sucked to get swept by the Angels, but it was probably far better than getting crushed by the Yankees if the Red Sox would have made it past the Angels. I was actually looking forward to a Yanks/Sox ALCS. Maybe next year.
