yet another ISR/deckplate question.

ok I want to know, say I do the deckplate and ISR mod on my 4runner. What good will it do? Wont the mass airflow sensor just restrict how the new air ratio effects the engine so it will stay at manufactures specs? ALso you guys are putting all those fancy screws and stuff on the deckplate mod, what for? why no just cut a hole in the front of the airbox and leave it at that? THanks for all your help ppl. I was talking to my mechanic about doing these mods but I think he has tht mentality of why mess with factory?

The fancy ring is for the plate to be screwed back in when we go off road and may have to cross some water and don't want water getting into the airbox so easily. Yes,if you have no reason to close it back up then by all means just hack a hole in you airbox but I also liek the fact that when I sell it or would have to pass inspection I can return it essentially back to stock.

Really,the mod has very little gains but it's way cheaper than spending $200 on a filter kit and pipe to get the same proven 7-8whp.
I got a little more mid range oomph but my MPGs have really just stayed the same.

you can undo the deckplate mod when off roading or in heavy rain (although ive never seen water in the area of my engine bay)

Deckplate mod done! never made so much use of my dremel before. They had a blower there that blows 146 cubic feet of air per minute. there is an electric motor in it that can be wired in. Here is a picture. Anyone have any input on whether this would hurt your intake?

if you have ever seen how they put leafblowers on peoples intakes, it would do the same thing, i cant imagine that would be all that great, the problem is getting an accurate pressure from it, controlling the pressure, changing the air/fuel mixture.

If your seriously thinking about putting that thing into your 4runner, go buy the TRD supercharger.

Those things are for suckers and there's no way it can move enough air to even make any difference on any car or truck.
