You CAN replace your 8" sub

Hey, I just wanted everyone to know that an aftermarket 8" sub CAN fit into the stock JBL sub location...and it sounds pretty dang good actually. I was going to put in a JL audio 8", but I found there really wasn't enough air space, so I found out that the polk audio 8" fits pretty good. The plastic panel sticks out just a little bit, but not enough that anyone would even know if you didn't point it out. Anyway, just thought I'd let you guys know that it can be done.

Oh, just in case you were wondering if you can use your stock sub with an aftermarket amp...Yes, you can. I think you have to use a 4 channel amp, but It can be done. This was going to be my second choice if the polk sub didn't fit

What's the model number for the Polk sub you used? Did the driver touch the back of the sub enclosure at all...or did the panel bulge come from the Polk having more surface height than the OEM?

Thanks.

The only thing I would be worried about since you said that the plastic sticks out alittle now is that, its stickingout because the sub surround is pushing it out...if thats the case then when you are playing it, and the sub is moving, its not moving correctly b/c its in contact with the plastic grill....
