Your runner too noticeable to drive like an a..?

I noticed just the other day that I tend to drive my runner the way I would a company truck with my phone number all over it!.. Very curtiouse and patient with an emphasis on safety(atleast in the city)

I do this, I think because you would know my truck if you ever saw it again, and want wheelers to have a good reputation. not to mention that it rarely gets to park in the garage (I have 3mm between the roof and cab.. 1mm if its really cold!) and would make an easy target for "that guy" I happened to piss off.. anyway, I was wondering if any of you with very distinctive trucks are the same.. why or whynot?

Wow! Ok... I guess what I mean is that I happen to be much more aware of any mistake I make while i'm in the runner. Things like, understanding it's really tall so I turn my headlights off in a drive-thru...on residental streets with cars parked on each side, I'll stop to let someone on-comming thru instead of sqeezing thru... That sort of thing. Being "more" aware..

It depends honestly. Since I've lifted mine, I have been driving it more cautiously, but I think that has to do with the road manners of it.

I do do some of the things you say. Turning off lights in a drive through, letting others squeeze by, ECT.

BUT, for those reasons when it's necessary, I do use it to my advantage.
Like when some asshat is coming down the road with his high beams on, doesn't shut them off, he gets a blast of the roof lights. Some dumbass trying to cut people off in traffic, he gets blocked.

I don't think that would be considered "driving like an a$$..." The way some of these people drive, it makes me wonder what they teach in driver's ed.

I drive a lot at night and it amazes me how many people simply cruise around with their high beams on when they aren't even necessary, don't dim them when passing, don't dim them when approaching another vehicle head-on, or - my favorite - drive with high beams on in a snow storm/fog (duh).

Screw 'em. I think people like that need a reminder that they're morons.

I'm a very courteous driver, let other people merge, etc. But when someone is driving like a tool, my courtesy level diminishes rapidly because people like that simply don't deserve it.

From what it sounds like, I think you're just an all around courteous driver, just because you can be easily traced down is not really the only thing keeping your road manners right?

I mean let's put it this way, if you hopped into a rental do you automatically let loose and be an arse on the road? I'd highly doubt that

I do know what you mean though, when I am near home I am a bit more "aware" of how I drive, just so no one follows me home pissed off.

Except for LED interior lights, my T4R is stock. I don't have any decals or anything that can distinguish my white 4Runner from any other 4th gen.

But I am a 4Runner owner and I believe good driving habits are a testament to the brand and to other 4Runner owners.

For example, where I live I have learned to have less and less respect for drivers of Pontiacs and Jeeps over the past 20 years. They obviously don't care about anything or anyone.

But we do.
