Your take on trading in a ltd for a trd pro

All trims should be performing similarly on snow and ice when 4wd is engaged on SR5,off road and pro.

Pretty sure they are more attracted to families,younger people prefer the look of off road and pro more.

I think the LE has an advantage, but I'm no expert on winter driving. The LE has a Torsen center differential/FT4WD (think of it like AWD) and so can (I think) handle unexpected ice/snow slippage better than the PT4WD models.

How you drive them, of course, makes a huge difference and can counteract (for better or worse) any benefit of any system in any model.

Yes, if you're buying a 3rd row only, and your choices are SR5P vs LE, it makes the gulf in technology/comfort seem all the more large, and the gap in appearance all the less important.
 
Can't believe you guys. Sure, cooled seats, the JBL sound, push button start, full time 4wd are all nice options... but the hood scoop is worth all that and more! :laugh:

I'm 40+ and fall into the category of those who ruled out the LTD based on looks. It just annoys me to no end, and almost every manufacturer does it, but why does premium amenities also require chrome? And for most, it's not even well thought out with the overall design... usually it looks like peel and stick stuff from Autozone for window trim, door handles, front/rear bumpers, and sometimes down the side of the vehicle.

Sorry for those who like chrome trim, I just wish there was a choice to exclude it. Chrome is not elegant and does not = luxury (or "Premium") to me.

What about adding an aftermarket set of bumpers. I mean, why bother with trading bumpers with another trim, Pro or otherwise? Sure, if you want to keep a stock look, great. But, if you wanted the features of the LTD but with offroad enhancements, then why not upgrade? I can't say that I have seen a lot of this conversion, but maybe I am just missing it. But is sounds like the LTD offers options unique to its particular trim, so why not just improve?

I might consider a 5th gen in, like 10-12 years. In the meantime, please take care of yours so that I have some reliable options when the time comes to for me to pick up a new runner.:drum:

Agree. Oh, and those wheels/tires - ugh. To me, the 4R is kind of a hunky-looking vehicle, but the LE reminds me of a body builder with skinny legs and a big chrome necklace.

I do see a lot of them, though ...

A few things to evaluate that have not been mentioned; 1) OR/P has locking rear differential 2) if you want to lift the LE you are limited to a riser and not a suspension lift if you are keeping the x-reas 3) if you want to go higher than 2" riser you will have to rip out the x-reas system 4)if you are going to swap out front end you will have to re-locate front sensors and replace your front bumper 5) adding sliders you either have to cut rocker panels or purchase OR version. I was going down this path before I settled on the ORP, just too much additional money to drop on already 45K truck for me...
I believe it all comes down to the individual... each version has its perks, what type of driving, where and how you plan on using it are the major factors. I don't mind the chrome once a larger tire and a lift are added, it looks cool...

The Xrea will need to go eventually as the leaking issue of the Xrea is a known problem on Ltd.
I honestly don’t know what to do with my Ltd, there’s not much I do with the Ltd other than driving on pavement and highway all day,I just love to see those rigs with sick mods and imagine one day I will have my Ltd look like them.

You are right about the Ltd being the only true 4by4 among all the trims of 4runner,I’m just after the look after seeing the cement and quicksand Pro.

I hate the chrome bars also so I had them wrapped. Cheap and easy fix.

So you drove a Trail/TRD Offroad with a fancy paint job and some more appearance stuff and you think it drove different than other models. You are a perfect customer for Toyota and it's ability to rip people off with mediocrity. :juggle:
