I love my toyota 4runner and all but in no way shape or form is it gonna compare to the reliability of my 94 toyota celica gt.170k on it was a 5speed and I used to beat the hell out of it.When i departed with it back in june it wouldnt start after it rained out,and the rust from buff ny was eating away at the body.Lets all take a moment to remember my old toyota celica

Mine was a Toyota SR5 1/4ton with extra-cab, sunroof...etc and a 22R engine. The box had rusted out (as all those 2 seem boxes did) and it had a 1990 box on it, painted forest green with crome bumpers and bed rails.

I loved that truck, but then decided I wanted something bigger so I sold it and bought a full size "extended cab" GMC 1/2 ton and others. But I still miss that truck. But my new 4Runner has given me a love for a vehicle back again.

I'll try to find an old photo of it and post it up.

Mine is a 1990 Nissan Pathfinder SEV6. It had the big tires, automatic locking hubs, which was a big thing back then, and the very nice stereo system. It was originally my fathers, and he drove it into the ground. I bought it from him when he traded it in for a new Toyota Landcrusier. It was so rugged and dependable. Washed it every weekend. Then some illegal alien A-hole cut this lady off, she lost control of her car, and slammed me into a wall.

'84 Nissan 200SX. Rear wheel drive, hatchback, pop-up headlights, spoken voice vehicle monitoring system ("Your door is ajar", "Headlights are on", "fuel level is low", etc) <- that was awesome for 1984.

The thing was a real chick magnet in college. Rear seats folded down flat leaving plenty of room to "sleep" in the back under the enormous glass hatch. Ahh, those were the days.

My current DD, Honda Civic Del Sol. I am still driving it. I only drive my 4runner on the weekend or whenever I take my kids out.

I prefer to drive my Del Sol than my wife's Benz.

This was my first car, I've ever sold!
A '87 Suzuki SJ413. That little offroader spent me a lot of fun and some good ranks at some offroad-competitions.
I've sold it, because I bought a Land Cruiser and didn't had the time and money to keep 3 rigs in good shape. The new owner (a friend of mine) keeps it in good care and is very happy with it.

hey net,i will always have a soft spot for compact japaneese sports cars.my car that i had between the celica and this 4runner was a 98 acura integra gs-r.Actually i have a pic of it.......even though my integra was way faster,more of chick magnet,and looked better then my old celica,i would rather have the maintance free experience I had with my celica over the acura ANYDAY!

Definitely my 97 Tacoma. 4X4 3RZ 5speed extended cab. Had it lifted on 33s, geared and locked, 01-04 front end, lots of little stuff. Lost her to the cancer at 254,000 miles :sobbing: and she still ran like a dream.

I used to have a Datsun 280Z. That thing was fun to drive, not a ton of power but it handled well and was great for the twisty roads through the mountains or along the coast. I can't find a picture for some reason so I'll have to check my other computer.

OP, why do you think the 4runner won't compare in reliability to your Celica? I would consider them totally equal in that. It's not like Toyota used cheap materials to build the 4runner and quality stuff to build the Celica, they're both made very well and the runner is newer.

hey brian,just simply comparing it to my freinds 4runner who had a few major repairs....strawberry shake,steering rack,axle seal,s and they are considered all common issues on the 4runner.NO COMMON ISSUES for the celica just pure reliabilty.nothing but oil,battery change outs...and simple maintance on the ac thats it.no pricey fixes,squeaks rattles nothing.my 4-runner is newer and has issues already and i baby it

I baby my toys. Someone paid top dollar for it that i couldn't resist. So i sold it before i moved to Colorado. Then when i got here in Colorado, i could barely see one on the road.

I don't have a picture, but my parents helped my buy a brand new '01 ext cab Tacoma Prerunner w/ TRD package in college. That was before I learned about modding (doesn't matter b/c it was also before I had the money to do it anyway). Never once used the rear locker - ha! Now I see it's pretty desirable on the 4Runners. Drove that truck for 6 years and traded in on a '07 Lexus IS250. Kept that car for all of 12 months before I came running back to a Toyota truck. Still kicking myself for giving up that truck.

181HP and 2700lbs, pulled .95g (common now in heavier cars, but it's INSANE in a lightweight) and would hang the rear on command.

Little pocket rocket. Traded it in on a more family friendly ride (then poceeded to wait 4yrs before finally having a kid). Miss that car, EVERY DAY!

I sold it to buy my 4Runner, sort of wish I had kept it and just made payments on the 4Runner, but it IS nice to not have a car payment!

^The only snow my G saw, can't wait for the first 4Runner snow this winter!

My 4runner is defiantly one of my favorite vehicles but the one I missed most of all is my 2002 Tacoma Limited TRD 4x4. It was a sad day when I sold it before I moved back to Texas. Best vehicle I have ever owned
