Man, what a weekend.
[MENTION=72341]NJshadow93[/MENTION] and I managed to installed the daystar lift with a buddy over at tacoma world who was putting the toytec in his tacoma at the same time.

AIR TOOLS ROCK!

The install was pretty easy, all things considered. I had never messed with suspensions before. the XREAS line was REALLY short and that was difficult, a lot of prying. The best method was to disconnect the UBJ and pry both control arms out of the way.

I busted a rear sway bar munt bolt, but no biggie, the hook holds it in place with the other 3 bolts.

I also, at the suggestion of Mike and others, removed my running boards and I think it came out awesome.

Forgot, one other casualty - my floor jack.

We went full ghetto to lift the rear, tried a hi - lift, then eventually used a 3" drop hitch and stacked wood under the jack, it was tiny so i used this as an excuse to upgrade to a real floor jack

I may try to fix the small one since its good for lifting suspensions and axles and stuff.

So, the easy way or the hard way?

I did it the hard way. I modified each bulb holder and soldered up an LED/resistor combo and heart shrunk the resistor on the back of the bulb holder. I can post a photo of the back if you want. This way is also cheap, i did my whole HVAC with one bag of leds that was like 3 bucks

The easy way: buy neo wedge LEDS that have the resistor's wired in. [MENTION=72341]NJshadow93[/MENTION] did it this way and it looks great. Using SMD's (like he did) is the way to do it since they will reduce hot spots. This way is just twisting out bulbs and putting new ones in.

I'll eventually do the gauges.

+10 HP per cap, I can feel the difference.

Right now I'm running 265/65's and will either stick with those but get a more aggressive tread or maybe run 265/70's. These tires still have a good bit of tread left, so that will likely be a while.

What do you guys think about blacking out the tail lights?

My dad said my truck looked ghetto the other day (he has a bone stock 08 v6) and I somewhat value his opinion.... but I value all of yours more!!

I am not crazy about the tinted tails but i do like black tail lights like mine. If you were talking about blacking them out like people do with the headlights, it isn't the same. The lens on the '03 tail lights are red. You can get the black ones on ebay pretty cheap.

Hmm I just looked at yours, that's an interesting idea. I just hate the pink on mine and don't really wanna spend a ton of money for new housings. I was thinking of just doing Lamin X or Nite Shade.

I really like that look, its a nice compromise.

Maybe i'll plastidip my tails just to see if black is too aggressive.

Just look at them as good Birthday or Christmas presents....lol. If you have a pic of your truck from the rear you could photoshop the tails instead of going through the hassle of PD'ing them....:yo:
