get some yellow/amber high beam bulbs, you get notice better, im using the osram all weather from trs. cant beat 25 bucks for pair of bulbs.

Got 'em from a guy on Expedition Portal, but you can probably find somebody on an FJC forum who is selling them, too. Lot's of FJC owners swap them out. They're 17" rims, I think they're 8 or 9" wide, not sure.

I paid $400 for all 5 but that included a set of BFG MT's with about 50% tread life remaining that I used for a year and then sold for $200. So in reality I paid less than $200 for these wheels. They came with the lugs and center caps, too.

One thing, they are heavy. Probably 10lbs or so heavier than the 16" alloy rims they replace. OTOH, being steel they should be pretty sturdy.

I've always like the look of classic wheels like those. For whatever reason they look a lot more rugged/utilitarian (especially with some aggressive tires) than modern spoked wheels to me personally. I think they resemble military vehicle wheels or something which I tend to like a lot.

Took a drill and a grinder to [MENTION=72620]A_HuL[/MENTION] 's old bumper

Took off running boards and started to remove mud flaps. There is a gap in the rear quarter panel, so i will probably just trim instead of remove them to keep dirt and debris from getting in.

Finally got to put my personalized plates back on. Same as my Screen name, USMC plates.

Installed my new screen. Still need to get the parking brake bypass though.

I've been on the lookout for a set of these and the extra weight has been my only concern. Regardless, nice pick up and color choice.

Continued fabricating my rear diffy skid plate using two pieces cut from my original front sock skid plate. Once done the two joined pieces will look like it came off the shelf. Looking good.

IMO the extra weight is negligible. Think about it, these were stock wheels for the FJC so obviously the suspension is designed to handle the weight. I guess if I was a desert racer or something like that I'd be obsessed with trimming every pound and/or reducing unsprung weight, but I'm not a racer so as long as it doesn't affect my use, it's not a big deal.

50 extra pounds on a 4500lb+ vehicle isn't going to make a lot of difference.

Offsetting the extra weight is the fact that steel wheels are tough. Hit them hard and they bend vs. alloy wheels, hit them too hard and they break (although to be fair, I've never broken an alloy wheel nor have I ever seen anyone else break one.)

That's exactly the "look" I was going for. Trying to "de-soccer-mom" my 4runner. :eyebrows:

Tires will either be BFG AT KO's or Goodyear Wrangler Duratracs. I'll most likely get 265/70/17's which should be right around 31.5", a little smaller than the 255/75/17's (32") that I had on the wheels before.

few posts ago, I saw the center console of an '08-'09. Loved it. Then I looked at mine and automatically hated it. Couple days before I went to the dealer to look up part numbers, I offered $35 to a seller in fleabay for the smokers kit. It is very cool (smokers kit), but since I already purchase the kit but absolutely loved the '08/'09 console, I figure I'd go for it. Figured this would be a cooler mod. (addition, mod, whatever the f*** you want to call it).

Smokers kit comes as a whole (part number: 74110-35010-B0 ). Plug N Play. No BS. In fact, I think there is a light ring that surrounds the base of the cig lighter that lights up at night. I think.

'08/'09 console: The 2 outlets (12V/120W) and respective covers (spring loaded flip up) and tailgate window switch, bezel and wire harness.

1) Bezel, Console box: 58844-35020
2) Switch Assy, Power Window regulator: 84810-35060
3) Cover, Power Outlet: 85535-35090-BO
4) Cover, Power Outlet: 85535-35090-BO
5) Socket Assy: 85530-35040
6) Socket Assy: 85530-35040
7) Wiring Assy, Cigarette Lighter: 82390-35020

Missing? The "tub" that holds all this together. I haven't tried it yet, but I assume the "tub" we ALL HAVE already in our trucks will do. You just have to pry the top part (door) off and install the Bezel, Console Box I listed above.

Cost? $260. When I went to pick everything up, I was met with a $400 bill. So watch out. I think I was given "cost" numbers by mistake or whatever. Doesn't matter (to me), LOL. But seriously, when I went to partznet to check pricing, some part numbers came up as "N/A". If you have a "buddy" at a Toyota parts department, it will be to your advantage.

Something else: except for the sockets, the window wiring will have to be taken from the dashboard to the console. Not a problem, BUT, I haven't seen the pinouts for either of them yet, but I really doubt this will be a problem.

Its the extra 50 pounds of unsprung weight that Im worried about killing MPGs. Im not worried about breaking one lol. With all the rubber wrapped around them, I don't think theres much of a chance of that, steel or alloy.

The ring around the lighter does light up.

What I'd love to be able to do would be replace the lighter in my "smokers kit" with another covered power outlet. I want to keep the little ash tray, it's where I keep my Chapstick!! ound:

I had these wheels on last year with BFG MTs in 255/75/17 and I want to say they cost me maybe 1 -2 mpg if that. And that could have been attributable to the heavier, more aggressive MT tire vs. the AT I plan on running now. :shrug:

Haven't decided what to do with it. But I won't be getting "RID" of it. I may exchange it for paper with some presidents on it :eyebrows:
