Digging up an old thread, but primarily because OP's use case scenario is almost the same as mine. I retired my 4Runner from daily duties a few months back, and I just took her up wheeling/camping/climbing this weekend. On the way down 70, traffic was it's usual (that was my last straw for 70...285 from now on), and my brakes were vibrating really badly by the time I passed Red Rocks.
I was going to do the Tundra brake (199mm) a while back, but I was talked out of it by ATLR (a fairly reputable toy/lex mechanic in Denver). The brembos he put on actually have lasted about 2-3 years now with regular mountain driving and I haven't had them resurfaced at all, so that counts for something I guess.
Regardless, the way I'm looking at it now is that I only drive my 4Runner very occasionally (mayyyybe 300 miles a month?) and if I do the Tundra upgrade, these rotors will last me just that much longer!
So, I'm just curious if the OP can give the recommendation after this many years.
Cheers!
