Front Differential Replacement
On behalf of "Timmy the Toolman", I am posting our newest addition to the plethora of 3RD GEN repair videos...
This one was a doozy, for anyone wanting to replace both front & rear differentials we now have videos for both.
These diff's were replaced to offer [MENTION=142071]sunsetrunner[/MENTION] ARB locking differentials with a 4.88 gear ratio for his 315's.

I have to agree being as i was there... but i take no credit for the heavy lifting. BUTTTTT its doable!!!!!. & this video tutorial definitely helps with the understanding of whats involved.

Yeah it's definitely not a job I'd want to do, going out into strange lands fighting wild fires in the open wilderness, working all day then getting a not so good nights sleep on the ground in the dirt, waking up & doing it all over again, for up to 2 weeks at a time!? Good lord. & then on top of all that, he comes back for his day off & wrenches on other people's trucks literally all day. Tim is truly selfless & is one of the most generous guys I know...

I plan to put a B&M 70264 transmission cooler on my 96 4runner. Naturally, the first thing I did is watch your video where you replaced the radiator and thermostat and added the transmission cooler. It has become standard practice to look for an applicable Timmy the Tool Man video before I begin any work on my 4runner (Can’t thank you and Sean enough for your videos).
I’m not worried about the pink milkshake because I replaced my radiator about 1500 miles ago, so I intend to install the cooler in line with the radiator rather than bypass the radiator.
I think you said in one of your comments on youtube that one of the benefits of installing in-line is that it would help keep the transmission fluid from running too cool. The idea being that the heat from the radiator would keep it warm enough even if the B&M cooler “overcools” it.
In your video you ran the hot fluid from the transmission to the integrated cooler in the radiator, then to the B&M cooler and then back to the transmission. If we want to depend on the radiator to keep the transmission fluid warm enough wouldn’t we run the fluid to the B&M first and then to the radiator so the radiator warms it, if necessary, before it goes back to the transmission? It seems that putting the B&M after the radiator could allow it to cool the fluid to a lower temperature than desired. What do you think?

The 70264 cooler has a LPD (low pressure drop) valve that doesn't open the cooling channels until beginning at 170f and fully opening at 180f so one doesn't have to be concerned with overcooling the ATF.
I have run the external cooler before the radiator for the last twenty years on different cars and trucks with no ill effects.
