New steering rack, tons of movement

For what it's worth, I installed the Energy Suspension polyurethane kit today and then drove for about an hour. It feels great! Thank you to everyone who suggested that. It just feels like my steering wheel and my wheels are actually connected again, a little tricky to describe.

The OEM bushings that Toyota includes look super chintzy once they're out, not super surprising that people have issues with movement; they don't even have a uniform diameter to fill the tube.

Did those come out in one piece? How long did it take to swap them out?

Not the OP, but yeah, they come out pretty easily without any crazy tools.

When I replaced the bushings on my steering rack I found the nut for the vertical bolt had been wrenched fee of it's weld.

I cleaned the nut & mig welded it back to the frame tab attachment point. Before I did this the rack would move back & forth since the bolt & bushing were not anchored.

Thanks for the responses! I returned the nolathane and got the energy stuff should be here Friday. But now I was under the looking at some stuff noticed this bolt it’s the vertical one on driver side is has some slice in it Is this gonna be a problem. Also when I had the lower control arm put in the mechanic stripped the long bolt on passer side that goes into the frame I think it’s the top one and another mechanic noticed it and it now has a nut on the end. Should this have been rethreded for a secure fit. I’ve been dealing with a lot of problems with this rack. Also the one shop who took out the stripped bolt and replaced it. Says those sounds your hearing is the age of an old vehicle. Thanks to everyone so far who taking the time to help and recommendations.

That's how it is supposed to be - that gap/cut cleans the threads when installing the bolt. That style is all over on the outside of the vehicle, even on the little M6 fasteners holding on small bits.

Seen this yesterday these bolts are wrong do you think is causing damage. It’s the right side front and back

Those adjusters are out of the 'normal' range for adjustment and a *bit* over center, but nothing that needs to be corrected... assuming the alignment numbers are correct.

If the truck is lifted, the adjustments can go out of the normal expected range that Toyota originally intended. As long as the alignment numbers are good and the alignment indicators (fat marked side) are not opposite the marks on the frame, you are fine.
