Out of pure boredom I decided to go through my list of maintenance items and count how many times I've done certain things to my rig.
Oil changes: 36
Transmission fluid changes: 5
Rear differential fluid changes: 4
Front differential fluid changes: 2
Transfer case fluid changes: 2
Air filter changes: 8
I've owned the truck 11 years as of tomorrow (February 2nd) so I'm pretty happy with the above numbers, and they'll continue to grow.

State inspection and emissions testing completed today. Pass.

Well this happened yesterday while going through an automatic car wash. Certainly not the update I was hoping to share on this thread, but oh well. I immediately terminated my monthly membership and said screw it. Those types of places typically don't claim any liability for damages to your car so it's basically on you if that happens. I didn't even call the place to tell them either. They did put tape on it before entering so I was surprised it ripped clean off.

So now the search begins for a new rear wiper arm. eBay or a junkyard back home might be my best bet, although if anyone has suggestions please let me know!

Yes, no auto-wash places in years 4Runner too high w/Rack, Audi too low w/hi-dolla wheels.

Your 01 100k mi more than mine took ownership near same milage mine 198k $3450 2017.
Both did the 200k mi refurb, same periodic maint. Where similarities end.
Mine goes like this, cost $3450 driven 34k mi. $3500 in 01-02's design malfunctions.
Hoping I got hit up front 200k mi to go trouble free.

It's so strange to me because I've taken it through the auto washes countless times over the years and have never had an issue. Not even once. So I was pretty disappointed when it happened.
Yeah, I've had the truck for over 11 years now. I'll hit 337K the next time I drive it. I love it and everything, but I do have a new daily driver now (an 07 Accord) and the comfort difference is night and day, naturally. I hope to keep the 4Runner for a long time and have no intentions of selling it but only time will tell.
I bought it in 2013 with 191K on it for $4816. In hindsight, that was a solid price and I'm more than positive that it has paid itself back to me ten-fold. It's been a great truck and has seen my best and worst days. Taken me on countless trips, was there for a lot of things throughout my life. Very proud to still own it to this day.

Ha, that's how they git ya.
Was a good deal same here $6500+ southern life. I got in low due to PO having already moved
to Maryland, air miles to close final business was his last business deal done at airport. Almost missed flight
My thoughts with 96Red till someone else told different. Lol.
No 01 buyer's remorse, mostly, fun trips, loads, last trailered load 2900# 200 mi of N. Natchez Trace Scenic Hwy.

Oil change today at 339,933 miles. Tried getting it as close to 340K as I could but I’ll be putting some miles on this thing over the next day or so. SuperTech Full Synthetic High Mileage 5W-30 with a YZZD3 oil filter.

Air filter replacement yesterday. Picked up a Fram Ultra filter at Wallyworld. Never used one of these before but it was 20 bucks. It's been almost two years since my last replacement so hopefully this one will yield me decent results. Out came a Denso aftermarket filter and it wasn't in bad shape at all. But the Fram filter had a somewhat difficult time going in at first but I just messed with the metal tabs inside of the airbox housing and it fit fine.

On Tuesday of this week I went to fire up the truck and click click click... battery was dead. Awesome. A little bit of self sabotage perhaps. Earlier in the day I decided to vacuum out the truck with a silly little 12v vacuum. Turned my key to the "on" position but didn't crank the engine. So after 30 minutes of that I assume it just drained an already weakened battery.
It's an Interstate battery from Costco that I purchased in August of 2021 with a date stamp of 07/21. So three and a half years isn't bad, but it's not what I like to see either. It is your standard lead acid, not an AGM or anything. Thankfully a buddy of mine lent me his trickle charger, so I pulled the battery and threw it on the charger for a day and a half. Just this morning I checked it and sure enough it was fully charged.
When I get home tonight I plan to throw the battery in the truck and see if it fires up. Fingers crossed. It's been a great battery for me and gave me no indication that it was weak or anything. Will update later.

This morning I went to fire up the truck and it started pretty quickly. the battery took a charge nicely. my ScanGauge read between 14.1 and 14.2 volts right at start up and the lowest I saw it drop to while driving was around 13.8 volts. as I backed into my parking space, while in reverse, it dropped to 13.2 volts but went back up once I was in park.
I typically run my headlights full time, even during the day, but I didn't do that this morning. I didn't run my heat or AC either, just the radio, didn't charge any electronics. ill keep a close eye on it in the meantime but that aside im very happy that I don't have to go get a new battery anytime soon!

The key left on will always get us. I have one that the buzzer was removed for headlights. So I get the occasionally dead battery from leaving the headlights on. Once in a while. I run around with a capacity box in the rig, Until I fix the buzzer.. Watch your battery voltage.. Looking at your number listed.. Everything is working properly.

Truck failed state inspection the other day. Inspector states that the driver side rear axle seal is blown. I verified this as he invited me into the bay to take a look. Needless to say I wasn't very happy about that but I figured something was bound to happen. The truck has 342K trouble free miles so perhaps it was time. I'm pretty sure they have been changed once before by the previous owner according to the maintenance records I was given when I bought the truck.
I've had the truck for the last 12 years and haven't done them, so whenever I gather all the parts needed I'll knock out that job. Thankfully, for the meantime, I still have the Accord that I can daily drive. My kids aren't thrilled about it either because they absolutely love the truck.
The inspector also said that I've got a potential exhaust leak although he didn't show me. Next week I'll crawl underneath the truck and poke around a bit. Maybe some JB Weld will fix that right up depending on how bad it is, who knows. I may come back with an update sometime next week.
