Removing dust from insulation on the underside of the hood?

The yellow-ish insulation material on the underside of my hood is full of dust from a recent desert trip. Just tapping it releases a very fine dust cloud. How should I clean this off?

I'm going to be using Gunk -- both the cleaner and the degreaser. What order should I do all of this? I'm assuming it should be to get the dust off first.

Try a shop vac dry first, that should get a lot of dust out.

I would cover the engine bay with an old sheet first, tape it to the fenders and vacuum/beat the hoodliner out

You can also remove it and wash/paint it but you will likely need to buy new clips to reinstall it

I'm really lazy and just use my leaf blower on it and the whole engine compartment, works great and it's super fast !! Does wonders to blow out dirt/dust from garages too in 30 seconds, ya' can't sweep anywhere near that fast. :cowboy:

If you are going to be hosing the engine bay, just hit the inside of the hood first and give it a little scrub with a bristle brush...
