Officially got the ARB bumper and Pioneer Screen on the 4runner!

Well i picked up a used ARB bumper yesterday morning so it was a challenge to find the hardware needed to bolt up everything up. Well after getting the bumper, things got better and i picked up a Pioneer Avic-D3 last night on the way home...

Well i got home last night and was so ecstatic about the great stuff i had gotten i tore apart my dash and got the touch screen in there to replace my alpine though it is missing a few parts (plan to pick those up very soon: gps antenna and bluetooth mic).

This morning i ran to 2 different Home Depots and was able to get all the bolts and hardware that i needed to install the bumper... so i drove over to a friend's place which was trying to get a "wrench-a-thon" party so we immediately got started and they all thought i was crazy for cutting the frame ends off and we ran into a small problem with one bracket not being exactly straight but after a little tweaking we got everything on and it took us about 2-3 hours to get it all done.

Sry for the long posts but here are the pics and on the Pioneer, i plan to change the backgrounds to some sort of toyota images but not 100% sure yet.

lol thnx dude but ya most ppl nvr realize my runner is 2wd bc im building the way ive always wanted and well it will prob get a 4wd swap later but i do so much in it even though its 2wd.
 
Looking really good! How hard was it for you to take apart the dash to get into the stereo. I am installing my Alpine either tomorrow or the day after.
 
thnx wrexhamm! ya i think its my rig so i should be proud of it no matter wat... haha Still have so much to do til i complete the mod list.
 
Well ive done it several times so i think its really easy but i think the first time will take a while bc u want to be cautious... Just remove the shifter cover by pulling it upward and then pull the bottom part of the center part of the dash and the plastic brackets will pop out and voila u should be able to get into the stereo area.

ARB looks ****ing great man ! Did you have to cut the end caps off the frame rails in order to slide in the mounts for the new bumper ? Is that why ? That has to be the coolest 2WD Runner around .
 
ya i had to cut the end plates but it was a pain bc apparently i didnt cut enough off the passenger's side since i did that first so the bracket was crooked and we hammered in the long-thru bolt bc the drill bit made it slightly too small so we ended up having to sawzaw off the long bolt head, hammer it out, then grind it down more and put it back on.

Thnx dude, i really love my 4runner and im hoping to get rid of the bumper and brush guard so i can get the 2" BL ive been waiting for and to upgrade to 35s...
 
I used to build custom bumpers and installed a few of them , it can be a exercise for sure . You mentioned ' swap ' ? Are you thinking of turning yours into a 4x4 ? Have you seriously looked into whats involved ? Get a wrecked donor and I think it would be a great project . Everything else is certainly in place for it .

ya but for now its gonna stay 2wd bc its my DD and dont have the money for a swap though i have researched it quite a bit... Well my 2wd has been put through so much, i use mine as if its 4wd and well i have enjoyed every moment of it and havent really needed it. Ive gotten stuck a few times but thats wat friends are for. haha ya everywhere all my friends with 4x4s go, i usually go!

Okay just given the visuals presented at the time of quicksilvrs posting-what is the giveaway that it is just 2wd?

Seriously I am asking cause I am reviewing the photos and I can't spot it...absence of front end CV boots?

I would never have guessed it myself...

turned out great! I would discourage you from trying to run 35s. Yes folks have done it but it tends to get expensive for a variety of reasons. Gearing for one thing, tire cost for another. Seals and bearings tend to wear rapidly...but you seem like you have your act together...going to go rear view camera?
 
Ron: sry dude i deleted one of the pics bc it only allows 11 pics per post and it wasnt an important one... it was just a pic of the entire front dash area so u could see the screen and the rest of the stuff in my runner. The thing that made it obvious was the shifter.

You can see that it is 2wd by the view of the back of his 4runner. It's kind of hard to tell, but it shows there is only the SR5 emblem on the back right corner.
