How to remove plastic cover on driver/pass seats

Hey All,

Got some DVD monitor headrests and can't find how to remove the plastic covers on the back of the driver's/passenger's front seats. Seats are leather and have a "magazine" pouch on the backs. Anyway, seems there are clips that hold it in place, but I don't want to break anything. Any help or removal tips would be appreciated!

I don't have leather seats in my Runner, however in most vehicles with a panel on the back of the leather seats you can remove the panel by just pulling it off. You may have to buy new clips, but that is the design. You may get lucky and not break them.

Figured it out!!

Thanks [MENTION=57147]chitown40[/MENTION], I just wanted some advice on how to gingerly do it b/c I didn't want to break any clips.

Turns out, no clips, just 2 philips screws right underneath the magazine holder (there are cuts in the leather to let you know where they are). After you remove the 2 screws, you get your fingers in behind the plastic cover and pull down. At either end of the cover (9 and 3 o'clock position), there are plastic tabs that hold the cover in place.

Find 2 screws at the bottom:

get your fingers behind the cover:

Pull down and it will come out.

Repeat for other seat. My daughter approves of this mod. LOL:

Anyway, I searched for hours on how to do this and found nothing. The cloth 4Runner seats have zippers to remove the back part of the seat. Anyway, as you can see, this is completely different.

Hope this helps anyone wanted to take the seat back covers off.

14' Toyota 4runner Driver Plastic Seat Back Panel Removal

On my T4R Limited, the front driver seat net/stuff holder, came loose from the Plastic Seat Back Panel. Unfortunately, the net fram is held to the Plastic Seat Back Panel with plastice rivets which are heat melted at factory. To repair, I needed to remove the plastic panel and apply proper screws. I could not find an answer on how to remove it and, this thread was closest. (Although, the panel show here is fabric). With persistence and a flashlight, I was able to see and guess the clip holding the panel. With set of Tool Kit for Auto Trim, I was able to loose the clip with damaging or breaking. Once the panel is removed you can clearly see how it's attached. Fortunately, the frame of the net where the plastic rivets attach, have a hole in the pin to where the rivet was heat-welded. So I didnt need to drill. I had some sheet metal screws and plastic washers which I used to reattach and repair. NOTE: The sheet metal screw to reattach needs to be short. >7mm so as not to penetrate or damage the plastic white as when screws have been screwed in too far. (I did this with one .
