Yakima Roof Basket to roof rails

Anyone have any ideas on the best way to mount the Yakima load warrior (or any inexpensive roof basket) to the roof rails? I have a load warrior currently. The max weight is primarily dependent on the stock cross bars. Those can supposedly only support no more than 165 lbs without snapping. I personally would like the option of having more, and I know the roof rails themselves can support a good amount more. Any ideas??

There are mounts made by ATO for the Rola rack but I haven't seen any options to mount the yakimas on those bars.

You could probably get some yakima crossbars and mount to those rails with some Unviersal yakima mounts but I'm not sure how much that would affect the capacity.

Yakima Mounting

I am a certified Yakima Installer, so here is what you are supposed to use:

Railgrab 4 Pack System
-This is what connects the Yakima crossbars to your raised side rails

58" Crossbar Pair
-These are the crossbars from Yakima that all Yakima roof mounted accessories can mount to directly including the LoadWarrior

LoadWarrior
-This is the load bearing piece. It can mount directly to round, square, and factory crossbars on the 06 4Runner.

I recommend a direct mount for now, and in the future considering a Yakima crossbar system. The Railgrabs are easily removable within 5 min, and can be shifted on the factory siderails however you want. All Yakima Round bar accessories are compatible and the entire system can be transferred to a new vehicle if you ever trade for a newer 4Runner (not likely I'm guessing).

I've had my Railgrabs for 3 months so far with wind fairing and have not noticed any mpg drop, warping, or load issues.

I have the Rola roof rack and the AOR lowering kit and it works great. Not sure what it does to capacity but to be honest, I don't think you want to carry more than the rack can handle anyway.

I also have the Yakima Railgrab with 78" bars for carrying two flat-top Kayaks side-by-side. Works great.

Not to take any food out of the Yakima installers mouth but you can easily find Yakima parts on CL for a fraction of their new cost. I paid $80 for a set of railgrab mounts that retail for twice that amount. They were barely used.

I don't make money selling, I make money on installation, so no worries!

Just make sure that anything that makes contact is nice and clean before you install or scratches will be made from pressure put on dirt between parts.

Well the railgrabbers are awesome, they do indeed go on/off in about 4 minutes with an allen wrench. Super easy install. And you can leave your stock rails in place (although mine will be taken off to make room for the AOR rack.)

True of any accessory that goes on the roof or near the paint.

Speaking of which, the AOR lowering kit + Rola Roof rack will put the bottom of the rack really close to the top of the roof. I mean, like 1/4" from the raised "ribs" on the roof. So you can imagine if you load the rack too heavy, those ribs will probably make contact with the roof and rub the paint off. Just FYI.

Thanks for the tips guys. I'll check out the rail grabbers. Truthfully I want to be able Rostand on my rack, maybe do a dance

I'm also interested in lowering the rack so it looks less like a suspended beach cruiser basket

the rola kit does do that as well. So st this point one has to decide what they want. More weight capacity or a lower basket

I have Rail Grabs & yakima crossbars, but I need to lower the overall height with a Megawarrior mounted for garage clearance. Do you know of any brackets that will direct mount to rain gutter once factory rails are removed?
