What is this thing on the back of the center console?

Newbie question... and I would do a search but i dont even know what it is called... what is the purpose of the handle on the back of the 04 center console? here is a pic of what i am talking about... it can be flipped up like in the pic or flipped down to the floor...

Really? While it holds a lot of stuff, it's too low to be useful for me. Oh well, the front armrest is perfect for me though!

oh... a trash bag. That makes sence.

I'll have to check out the rear cupholder/slide out tray. Ive only had my runner for 2 weeks so i'll have to spend more time checking out the nooks and crannys of this thing.

LOL...pays to read the manual. I have been using that thing ever since I discovered it. Before that I bought a trashbag unit for the car that wraps around the headrest of the front passenger. This is much better, and I keep spare bags in left trunk compartment.

I disagree, for with plastic bags from your local food store, you are already paying for the bags. Not to mention you get many of them, and if you have a wife like mine, those bags will start getting pretty nasty with all the chewing gum she throws in there.

Actually, I put a plastic trash bag inside the Hilux bag so that I don't have to worry about it getting nasty. Just take out the plastic bag and replace it. But the Hilux bag adds a very nice touch.

I originally posted a new thread asking the question about this piece and someone was nice enough to direct me to this thread. I deleted my thread and asked my additional question here to minimize the number of threads on the same topic.

Since I am really new to posting on any type of forum, I have a general question. Is there any problem resurrecting old threads? Maybe they get deleted if they are before a certain start date?

I think it is much better to resurrect an old thread than to start a new one. This way all the information on a specific topic stays in one thread.

Cool, that's what I assumed. I just wanted someone to confirm it before I continued blindly doing it.

I haven't read the entire thread about the Hilux bag, but if anyone else wants one, I would be interested in a group buy (which is my understanding of how some people got their bag). My only reservation about the bag is the connection straps look kinda cheap attached that way. I guess they are made that way for conveinice of removal of the bag........anyway, I guess that is stupid, because a big grocery bag on the back is going to look a whole lot worse.

Look a whole lot worse? Maybe it's just me but stuff like that doesn't concern me. For instance, yesterday when I installed my air horns I had to rig a few brackets, and bend some here and there, so it does not have that professional look, but who cares?

Just my 2cents.
