The only thing I need to know is where to plug the red wire (positive) into, I do not want to plug into other wires, only the fuse box but where in the fuse box.. Please help.:awais:
So nobody knows how to install a CB ?

Thanks Bro. I will post when Im dont installing the CB in a few days...
You can buy one of these at Kragen...for a couple of bucks. Crimp the red power wire to it, follow the directions for installing the fuses. I use the ignition fuse on my 4runner because when the ignition is off so is the CB. Thats in case I forget to turn it off as I tend to do. There are different sizes of these make sure you get the one for your size fuse.

Thanks King, so where does that thingy plug into? which fuse space ? How do I know which s a ignition fuse ? sorry about all the questions...
What you do is pull the ignition fuse and put it into the first slot on the adapter, then put in a 3 - 5 amp in the slot where you crimp the power wire to, then plug the adapter into where you pulled the ignition fuse from on your truck. In my case it was under the dash on the left side of the steering wheel. On the back of the fuse cover is a listing of each fuse.
My 4Runner is an 07, so it might be different for you. I'll take some pics tonight of where I put it. It's really nothing special just I bought some wall hangers and jury rigged it to hang from my cup holder. Being a new truck I didn't want to drill any holes for a fixed mount yet.

Sounds impractical to me. Not a bad idea I suppose, but for a CB a solid ground is important. I'm not too sure if engine noise would come through that way, and having to remove it to power a phone seems like a waste. Most who want a CB in there vehicle I'm sure would much rather have it as close to hard wired as possible. Even with my set up I can remove it in minutes if I needed to.

Hey King I had a similar set up as the one you did, but I like your set up much better. I even went as far as using Velcro on the back of the console, but the radio was behind me so it was hard to use if I had to change channels or turn the radio down if it got too loud. So I scrapped that idea, I went with some S hooks and hung it the cup holder, similar to your set up, but that did not work well either
I thought about Velcro too but after it not working out so well in my Camaro in the past I didn't even consider it this time.
I got the wall hangers from Home Depot, as well as the small bolts and washers. I only have to reach the slightest bit to turn on/off, squelch...but everything is well within reach. I use an external speaker as you can see which is better for hearing, and with the speaker bracket on it fits right into the cubby next to the outlet. It will come out on hard cornering sometimes but not very often, and seldom do I take a corner hard.

Here are some pictures of the commerial radio that I use for GMRS. I screwed directly into the plastic trim and wired the radio directly to the car battery. I chose the passenger side because most of the time I'm usually driving alone and it doesn't get in the way of my legs.

Does anyone know which fuse is the ignition fuse on a 87 ? The fuse box is on the left side near the brake but it doesnt say which is which fuse.

6" tall? I don't know that much about it. How different is the CB from GMRS anyway?
I too wont drill a hole through the roof, but the cable through the back hatch leaks some when I wash. I just put a towel down. It's an inconvenience, but not that bad really. Fortunately it doesn't rain much here.

I run the coax cable down the rear drivers side door, it hasn't leaked up to now. CB is a dying sport, IMHO. With GMRS* you can use commerical grade equipment and use repeaters. Everybody has their own thoughts about GMRS and CB, I'm sure a hammy will step up to the soap box.
Where in So.Cal are you?
*You must have a GMRS license ($85 for 5yrs and covers your entire family = $1.50 a month)

I'll have to check out the rear drivers side door. Any problem with the cable fluttering at highway speeds, or is your antenna just above the door there. Maybe I should just ask where you put the antenna.
