I am pulling my hair out trying to decide. On one hand i like the sleak modern look of the pelfreybilt. But on the other hand i like the heavy duty off road beast look of the shrockworks. I dont mind the wait for the shrockworks i dont think yet.. im in on the group buy going on. Pelfreybilt is instock. The shrockworks id go with all 3 loops.

If u cant decide based on aesthetics try basing your decision on performance....bumper weight, approach angle, material used, air flow to radiator, etc.

yes appearance isnt my only concern. i both like and dislike the aluminum of the pelfreybilt. i like the weight savings. i prefer the strength of steel. airflow seems better as well with the pelfreybilt. also access to the winch clutch.
 
Tough one... with a 2013 my choice is easy. The shrockworks is chunkier, more resilient by way of steel, and cheaper. The pelfreybilt is sleeker, but less resilient and more expensive. I know everyone talks weight, but I don't know if 60lbs is going to make a whopping difference, so I would say if you are going to punish it a lot, go shrockworks. If you have corrosion concerns or only need the approach angle, go pelfreybilt. If you don't care go cheaper. If money doesn't matter and you have no special off-road needs, go with the one you like the appearance of more. Everybody is worried about being labeled a "mall crawler" but you have to live with it. If you have needs, suit them. If you have a preference on appearance, it's your money.

I bashed my ALUMINUM bumper up in Moab and it held up just fine, Aluminum can be as strong as steel if buttressed and reinforced well, of which the Pelfrey IS reinforced.

I agree. I read all your posts on the pelfreybilt thread. Seems like you had a thing about steel for a while, but have flipped. I guess I am just saying "steel might be better if you are actively trying to smash stuff." As in rock crawling,etc. I realize this is a need that many forum goers, including myself, do not have.

Out of those 2 choices ...Pelfreybilt all day long..Personally, I like the looks better, lighter, and less maintenance just wish the price was cheaper but understand w/high-grade aluminum and associated build costs
 
That is a tough decision and also one I'll have to make one day.

Pelfrybilt:
I like the weight savings and most of the design. I wish it wasn't so bulbous (is that a word?) and plain near the headlights, it almost completely washes out the aggressive lines of the front end. it's plenty strong and looks good enough. The headlight/grille protection, if available, would look terrible on this bumper and I find it useful as protection but also when I have my canoe on the rack. IT is a front tie point where the strap won't be damaging the paint on the hood.

Shrockworks:
It's a classic off road look. Much heavier (I personally don't need that feature). The trim pieces under the headlights leave some character in the front end. Has the best powder coat in the business. I really want the shrockworks, but in aluminum.


There are many more differences but those are a few of the aesthetics that are noticeable to me immediately. It's like shopping for a house. There is never one with every feature that is wanted.
 
I'm guessing the one on the left is the aluminum pelfreybily? I like the look of that one. Very sleek.

Aluminim, all day long. Our power-to-weight ratio is bad enough stock. More power being hard to come by, lower weight is what we are left with.

I went with aluminum skids. If and when I get a front bumper, it will be aluminum too.

The pelfreybilt looks like it will cool better, too.
 
Neither...

But if I had to choose it would be the Shrockworks. Please not the pelfrybilt. That thing is hideous. :barf:
 
I don't like either one ... but if forced I would pick the Shockworks. Pelfrybilt is ugly. I think there are better choices out there
 
Bit biased here, but I voted Shrockworks.

-Phenomenal build quality
-Really good powder coat
-Excellent customer service
-Absolutely worth the wait

Also, they throw awesome bonfire parties. Those boys are awesome and actually made me a cam indexing tool for my KTM one night on their CNC plasma cutter. (my buddies motorcycle shop is in the same complex)
They're seriously some really good guys.

That Pelfrybuilt does look nice though I have to say, I like that you don't have to deal with trimming out the headlights.

If you do go shrockworks, I recommend just cutting up your front bumper for the trim pieces. Looks a lot cleaner in my opinion.
 
Pelfreybilt. Love the look of that bumper. But again, that is my opinion purely based on looks and design. But it's damn sexy.
