New to 4runner, is it possible to disable the auto shutoff remote start when opening

First time 4Runner owner here with a 2020 Limited nightshade edition. I was surprised the first time I remote started it, that the engine shuts off whenever a door was opened. After reading a bit it sounds like Toyota did this as a safety feature? I've never had this on other vehicles with remote start and it has never been a safety hazard... Is there anyway to shut this feature off so that the vehicle remains running?

Of course, buy an aftermarket remote start.

I have had an OEM remote start for seven years now and to be frank I use it a dozen or so times a winter, it stopped bothering me after the first year.
 
I would think it an anti-theft feature? You remote start the truck and someone else hops in and drives off.
Just a thought.

Looked into this when I had the Tacoma. You'd have to install an aftermarket remote start system. OEM remote start is designed to stop when you open the door. No way about it, others have tried. A safety issue of some sort.
 
Never use mine or the remote start on my wife's RX350. If the vehicle sits out in the cold or heat I can see a use for it but ours don't.
