TRD PRO towed -City of Boston "street sweeping"

City of Boston tows all vehicles left on the streets scheduled for street sweeping.
I have seen this TRD PRO towed twice in the last 30 days. First time on a flat bed, second time on a "hook" which means they need to break into the 4runner to force it into neutral. (which took under 5 seconds) fast fwd to 2:42

I thought they nixed the towingin lieu of a higher fine last year, but it seems like they are back to towing again this year.

Either way, these tow truck drivers can yank someone in seconds, its wild around here when they come through.

they break into the car...... move shift lever to neutral and away they go. not sure if anybody in the city uses the emergency brake, and in the 5th gen you can release it with your foot? - pedal on left

There was a pause during the pandemic shut down in the city of Boston, but they resumed towing.
I know the "higher fine thing" vs. towing is now in pilot mode on the other side of the charles river - cambridge

The speed at which the tow operator is able to open the door locks does not inspire confidence.

I'm not a genius but it seems like a money making scam to me. They no doubt charge a hefty impound fee to get your car back.

Seems like it would be easier to just sweep around it like they do in every place I've lived.

And isn't the transmission locked in park without the key? IDK, maybe not?

I was wondering that. So anyone can put it in neutral and drive off with a tow strap?

There is a park shift release under the little cover near the shifter.

You could also just put the tcase in neutral.
