EPA fuel economy ratings for the V6 2010 4Runner

The EPA has just posted the fuel economy ratings for the 4.0L V6 2010 4Runner!

Part-time 4WD 4.0L V6: 17 MPG City, 22 MPG Highway, 19 MPG Combined (SR5 & Trail Edition)

Full-time 4WD 4.0L V6:. 17 MPG City, 22 MPG Highway, 19 MPG Combined (Limited)

2WD 4.0L V6:............. 17 MPG City, 23 MPG Highway, 19 MPG Combined

For comparison sake these are the fuel economy ratings for the 2009 4Runner:

4WD 4.7L V8: 14 MPG City, 17 MPG Highway, 15 MPG Combined

4WD 4.0L V6: 16 MPG City, 20 MPG Highway, 17 MPG Combined

2WD 4.7L V8: 15 MPG City, 19 MPG Highway, 17 MPG Combined

2WD 4.0L V6: 16 MPG City, 21 MPG Highway, 18 MPG Combined

According to the Canadian Vehicle Ordering Guide PDF, the Limited Package adds a full-time 4WD system to the 4Runner.

If I had to guess, the reason the Limited gets the same mileage as the Trail Edition and SR5 is probably because is comes with different tires and maybe different gearing. The Limited gets smaller sized tires on a bigger rim (P245/60R20), while the Trail Edition and SR5 get larger tires on a smaller rim (P265/70R17). The Trail Edition and SR5 probably get an MT tire with an aggressive tread, while the Limited probably gets something closer to a street tire that improves it's MPG rating.
 
So the new V6 not only makes more power, but also returns greater fuel economy. Well, that's good news. I wonder how much different this new 4.0L V6 is than the current engine? It's a decent bump in economy when you consider the additional power output.
