Hey All!
I just joined this forum and I am very excited to learn as much as possible from all of the knowledgeable people here. I am interested in purchasing a used 4runner and I would like to know just exactly which one I should get.
Important items are:
It must be able to take a hellatious beating on and off road.
It must, with proper modification, be able to go into 3-4 feet of water.
It must, with proper care, be able to go for a VERY long time.
It must have 2-wheel to 4-wheel capability.
It must be affordable to fix.
I would also really like to know which years are the best/most reliable. I have been told that 99-02 were very good 4runner years. I would like to know which parts are most likely to fail so I can take proper precautions against them doing so. For example, how can I rust-proof the frame/body so there is no compromise in its strength.
I am sure I will have many more questions, but this is a good start.
Any help would be greatly appreciated and I really look forward to getting to know this community.
