    Low oil pressure

Nope, did not replace the oil pump, (kicking myself in the rear over it too). Looks like I will pull the engine and replace the pump. Since the engine will be out, upside down with the pan removed, any one know what the max clearance should be on the main bearings? Perhaps pull a couple caps...

    Low oil pressure

Hi all. I am looking for opinions/suggestions concerning a low oil pressure indication light. This may be a bit long so bare with me. 97 4Runner 4x4 Limited, 177k miles Purchased and found cracked heads Got JDM engine and swapped all appropriate parts, (new oil pickup tube gasket). When I got...

    Pull engine or front diff?

when I swapped over the pickup tube, (JDM to my original), I replaced the gasket. The oil pump in use was the one that came installed on the JDM engine. I did not disturb it. I know a lot of people have their opinion of motor oil weight and oil additives, but I may try going with a 10w/40 and...

    Pull engine or front diff?

97 4Runner 4wd, 3.4, auto I need to remove the oil pan. Is it easier, better, faster to pull the engine or the front diff? I want to replace the oil pump but since the pickup tube attaches to it, the pan has to come off first. I just put this JDM engine in and it is creating very low oil...

    5vz injectors

just a quick opinion poll: Anyone out there ever buy the re-manufactured fuel injectors from E-bay? I am getting various mis-fire codes and #5 is not tapping at all. I am trying to build a rig to leave in Mexico so currently this 4R is not a daily driver. I have time to play with it and do...

help with crossover pipe bolt up to exhaust

Yeah, I swapped everything from my old 3.4 to the JDM, exhaust manifolds included. The problem is that the three bolts on the cross-over do not line up with the holes in the receiving end. When I get one in, the other two become crescent shaped with I look up through them.. It almost looks...

help with crossover pipe bolt up to exhaust

97 4Runner, 3.4 auto 4wd limited.. Placed the JDM engine into the compartment, (exhaust manifolds and cross-over pipe installed on motor). I can not seem to get the crossover pipe aligned with the exhaust pipe flange. This has been kicking my back side for several hours now and I am looking...

    5VZ oil cooler

Thanks for the responses to date. About soaking it in Acetone, I read somewhere where someone mentioned using brake fluid for cleaning oil coolers, (not the 3.4 5VZ one however).

    5VZ oil cooler

Did a search on the Internet and on this site as well and could not find any info, so I thought I would just ask the question in hopes someone else has had this issue. The 4Runner I purchased had a cooked motor, (cracked heads and A LOT of water in the oil). Replacing with JDM motor and...

    Removing a 3.4 from 97 4Runner 4x4 auto

Thanks for the response. That is what I kind of thought since even with the heads off, I have to wiggle it this way and that way to get it out of the truck. And YES, I did notice the subtle differences between the two engines. I got another engine stand to do exactly what you are referring.

    Removing a 3.4 from 97 4Runner 4x4 auto

Concerning the crossover pipe. I have already taken the heads off, (they were cracked) and decided to go with a JDM replacement. My question is... It is better to install the exhaust cross-over pipe before I re-install the engine? I have taken the crossover pipe off and it was fairly easy...
