The selector dial on the Sony MEX-GS810BH I have in my 2005 SR5 will not function properly anymore, making even the most basic adjustments impossible. I've been happy with it (it's 9 years old), but apparently, even Sony products don't last long anymore. Everything else about it works fine, but...
This may not be the place for this rant, so please forgive me.
Both sets of struts; hood & rear hatch, on my 05 failed at the same time a couple of days ago. Go figure.
Rockauto's shipping time to me was about 3 days. The FSA struts I found there were $20 each with lifetime warranty. Not bad...
‘05 SR5 2WD with 186,000 miles -
The past couple of times having the tires rotated, the tech has pointed out leaking/seeping from the front main seal, oil pan, and timing chain cover. He wasn’t certain if there were leaks from each of those places or just one or two with dripping to other...
The clearcoat on my 05 SR5's roof began failing a few years ago and has become very bad. I have found a few small (about 3mm) places where the paint has chipped away and rust is beginning.
I can not afford to repaint my truck, so I am considering DIY fixes.
Another 4Runner owner said he had the...
2005 SR5 - 181,000 miles
Both front and rear washer fluid will not spray now, both quit at the same time. The reservoir is full and spray nozzles are not clogged. Does the '05 have a separate pump for the front and rear? I know the front pump is located at the bottom of the reservoir and the...
My '05 SR5 has 179k miles. I change the oil & filter every 6k miles or so. I use Amsoil oil and their Wix filter.
Which oil filter does this forum recommend? I may begin replacing the filter every 2-3k miles just to be mega-extra certain the engine is using clean oil.
Thanks.
I purchased the FIAMM aftermarket horns models 72112 (low note) and 72102 (high note).
Both are nearly identical in dimension to the stock horns on my "05 SR5. The wiring for the stock horns is a connector containing two wires going to one of the horns, and a connector containing a single wire...
Should I replace my control arms or just bushings?
I don't do off-roading (I'm in a pathetically flat area!) but I'm wondering if I should replace the control arms on my '05 SR5. It has 178k miles and I do not believe they have been replaced; arms or bushings.
The steering feels good; quick and...
The primary pieces that I want are for the door inserts (#26, #30 #27, #31) which are only available in the 41-piece kit. Other than the basic solid colors, and the brushed aluminum finish, I didn't see a carbon option other than "Real Carbon Fibre" which is a $73 uplift. I prefer the appearance...
I bought this package of OEM bulbs via Amazon a week ago because it seemed that locating LED equivalents was just too much trouble. Each new bulb fit fine except for the 90010-09017; the two bulbs that rear-illuminate the LCD clock. The rear of the bulb has a vertical hash and, once properly...
Those look very nice, but jeez...the kit I need is $300+. Too rich for my blood. I will just try my best using the 3M wrap and hope those door inserts don't look like garbage.
Thanks.
What part of the old bulb should be measured to correlate to the correct LED equivalent (T3 4mm, 5mm, T4 4mm, etc..)? And the LEDs would be a direct replacement, not requiring soldering, right?
I bought the 2ft x 5ft size package of that wrap. I have never used a wrap so this will be a learning experience. The door inserts will be tricky since they cannot be removed. I guess I should just take a piece of wrap larger in size than the insert, stretch it over that insert, and press it...
