Saying no is wrong too, was just trying to keep it simple. Johnson makes batteries for tons of people, one of them being Interstate. Interstate then slaps a Kirkland sticker on some, Toyota stickers on others, Honda stickers on others, etc. But Kirkland buys from Interstate which was my point.

Side note here, Costco batteries (Kirkland) are really Interstate Batteries and Interstate makes all batteries for Toyota in the US. So I vote Costco as well as it is great battery at a great price.

Holy old thread. But if you are within 8 years and 80,000 miles take it to a Toyota deal and tell them about TSB 0342-09. Do a search, lots of talk on here about it.

Possible issues with the brake calipers? I have read of people noticing a drop in MPG as a sign they had seized calipers.

Hmm...why do you think that? I agree with the others. This does not sound at all like melting, sounds like and animal. A picture would help.

Here is an older TSB on it. I just picked up a can of spray white grease at Walmart and sprayed on the one track that I thought was squeaking (drivers side rear in my case) and no more squeak.

Did it sound like your seat possibly? Toyota put out a TSB on the seats needing a little grease.

Then you would remember the belt, most get a package of work done for about $1000 when doing the belt.

v6 or v8?

This was my first thought. The EPA also changed the calculation to more real world numbers. Go to fueleconomy.gov and look at the new numbers and see how that compares to what you get, it is spot on for me average. If I take a road trip I get better then advertised.

I had the thump until I lubed my driveshaft, now it is gone. I am sure eventually it will come back. Not sure if it is the same as what you are talking about.

Head gasket. In 4th gen the #6 occasionally will fail.
