    A/C Troubleshooting

Yea I’m a noob still when it comes to electronics diagnostics. I can work a multimeter but wasn’t sure where to put the leads to test the switch socket or compressor for that matter. I will say, the system was a pound low so the refill was at least needed.

    A/C Troubleshooting

Hi all Just wanted to update here. Got it vacuumed and recharged, tested everything, compressor works but never got power, replaced the amplifier/relay, nothing. Got an $8 replacement A/C switch in today and turns out that was the only thing wrong the whole time. Learned a lot though...

    A/C Troubleshooting

Thanks all! Tried out the compressor clutch today and it turns pretty easily. It may be a week or so before I can do the rental gear and do some testing. This weekend I already have the front brake pads slated (first time doing brakes) and have limited time during the week. In the meantime...

    A/C Troubleshooting

Fuse was the first thing I replaced. I’ll try turning the compressor by hand tomorrow. What happens if is seized and it runs? Trash the compressor? The blower is working fine. Heat is great haha

    A/C Troubleshooting

Cool, thanks both! Yea was wondering about if it’d be worth investing in the testing gear. Good thought on the diagnosis at a shop and diy repair. I’ll likely do that. Thanks again! Edit: just for curiosity’s sake, shouldn’t the A/C light still light up or at least blink when turned on if the...

    A/C Troubleshooting

Hi All! Sold my 03 a few years ago but I’m back in the game fixing up a 99 sr5 v6 4x4. One of the issues I’d like to fix by summer is the A/C. The compressor clutch never clutches so I can’t add coolant and it never blows cool. The A/C button is backlit but does not light up when pressed. I’m...

    When it rains, it pours

Update: I caved in and bought a cheap code scanner from harbor freight. Since it still misfired with the new plug, I cleared the code for the #8 misfire, swapped the coils with #6, and drove. Today I finally had the check engine light come on and sure enough it said misfire #6. So relieved to...

    When it rains, it pours

I don't know if I can commit to a cone yet haha. Too scared of all the problems it could cause. I think I'm going to see what I can do with some diy-ing. I was scared someone would suggest a cone or something and I'd talk myself in to it haha

    When it rains, it pours

I hadn't even thought about here or Craigslist. I was thinking about calling a junkyard, but I'll have to do that too. And as for being able to afford it, the car was given to me by my parents when I turned 16 and I've always paid for maintenance myself because I like working on it and saving...

    When it rains, it pours

I've never had any mechanical issue from my 2003 4.7L v8 that wasn't human error, until 2 days ago. On the way to work, it started jumping like a cylinder wasn't firing. So I got the code read and sure enough it said #8 was misfiring. So I changed the plug and discovered that somehow 2 of the 4...

    Bad Leak Please Help

Would not have guessed that. Thanks guys! And yes RPC, mine is the same way. Any chance someone could post a picture or describe where these drains are? If not it's no big deal Thanks! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Bad Leak Please Help

I have a leak in the roof of my 4Runner that is rapidly getting worse. It leaks to the point that a solid stream will shoot into the driver and/or passenger's laps when it rains. (Yes it leaks on both sides) There's a seal on the roof above the doors that for reasons unbeknownst to me are...

What did you do with your 4runner today?

Currently sitting in a stealership that has done right by my buddy and I in the past on minor stuff. I'm nervous as hell. I just want an oil change and for them to take a look at a faulty socket on one of my turn signals. The tiny amount of information he asked for scares me. It also makes me...
