    4lo not engaging

I have a 2006 V8 Sport and... About a month ago, we got just about two feet of snow here in the DC area. I took the 4Runner out to play in it and noticed that I could not get it into 4lo. I did a search on here and I was doing everything right....neutral, rolled forward a bit and nothing. It...

Looking for tourist tips in Washington, D.C.

The tourist areas are very safe. The police patrol and do a good job of keeping things enjoyable for tourists. I think Southwest is the bad part of town but that is all neighborhoods and you would have no reason to visit this area... Northwest is where most of the tourist stuff is and I think...

Looking for tourist tips in Washington, D.C.

I commute to DC daily and have been to every museum and touristy thing many times. I grew up in the DC area and ever year in school we would take a field trip to DC. Every museum is open to the public and most are free. The Smithsonian, Air and Space, National Archives (where the Dec of...

    Trailer Hitch Rack

Anyone use them? I want to free up some space in the back of the truck for the dog on road trips. Cabelas says not to use them if you have rear exiting exhaust, which the 4Runner does. I'm not a big fan of the roof racks b/c of wind noise and increased drag and a trailer hitch mounted rack...

What ugly trucks or mods have you seen

An employee at the video store I go to has a Scion X something, the SUV wannabe with two stainless steel hoops on either side of his front bumper that make it look like the vehicle has eyebrow rings. I have also seen lately around the house, an old Ford Taurus station wagon with a huge spoiler...

    Swallow Your Pride! Stuck Pictures!

Never got the 4Runner stuck b/c I haven't taken it 4 wheeling. Got my Jeep Wrangler stuck about a year ago. I was very proud that up to that point I had never gotten it stuck before. I have pulled out several buddies on different occasions without fail. Well....I hit a deep mud hole and...

    Ticking noise from the rear

It's not a rock or nail or anything to that sort. This has been going on for 10,000 miles at least. I usually only hear it on road trips and it gets louder the longer it runs. After about 300 miles nonstop it is pretty loud and annoying...

    Ticking noise from the rear

I am pretty sure it is coming from the wheel or tire. I rotated the tires and now the noise is coming from the front. Took it to the dealership and they said it was the brakes. Replaced the pads a gave it back to me.....Same thing. It's going back in in the near future.

    Ticking noise from the rear

I can't take it anymore. At highway speeds I have an annoying ticking noise coming from the rear of the truck. I have noticed it before on occasion but now it is constant and driving me crazy. I have gotten under the back of the truck with a flashlight and some WD-40 but I have yet to find...

    What GPS Do you use?

Garmin 60 CSX here. I have the country's topo map loaded and use it mostly for hiking/trekking but it has gotten me out of a couple traffic jams.

    HID's with Halogen reflectors

I did install them once. It is a piece of cake and the only real pain was hiding all the wire that you didn't need. They lit up the road very well but some light scattered. They were much brighter than the stock 51 watt halogen's. I kept them in for about two weeks but after screwing...

    HID's with Halogen reflectors

Yep, I think I will just keep them in the garage on the shelf for the time being. Thanks for all the input.

    HID's with Halogen reflectors

I did something stupid and purchased HID headlights before doing enough research about them.... I bought them with the intentions of just pluging them into the existing reflector housing. They do produce very good light but when I pull up to the garage, the notorious glare is visible just...

    Dunlops Flat Spotting?

I thought it was just my truck. I have the same problem. My 4Runner usually sits for a couple days at a time while I drive my Jeep to and from work. After two or three days of sitting, once I get on the highway, I have the steering wheel shutter for a mile or two at speed. I personally...
